You're not the only one. Apparently, it's possible to sideload KitKat, but I can't be bothered to do so as there's no features that are actually compelling enough for me to bother.

got the 4.4 update from google tonight (normal download).downloaded without any problem but have not had time really to see if there is much difference, may be slightly faster and smoother, the only thing i have noticed is on chrome instead of pressing the three marks at the top right hand corner to press the bookmarks selection etc,you now put your finger on the three marks and swyping down to your selection.apart from that it seems the same as before.will investigate more tomorrow.
Got the OTA update to 4.4 about an hour ago. No problems so far. I'm also not seeing much difference except the WiFi and battery indicators are white instead of blue. Indiana here if that matters. LOL
i just got the ping from google too for the update. does anyone have a unrooted N7, and updated ota yet? i have heard things about errors and such, memory loss, etc. please share your experience before i click install!! lbvs :3
I just got the notification for the 4.4 update on my 2012 N7 earlier this evening. I ran a new set of TiBu backups and then kicked off the download/update. It rebooted into TWRP and did nothing. I eventually rebooted manually from there, but now I can't trigger the update notification again, even by checking for updates manually.
Two questions:
1. If the update is already downloaded, where did it get saved to? Can I just reboot into TWRP and flash the downloaded file in order to perform the update?
2. If the update didn't download, how can I get it to send me the update notification again? Did I miss my chance?!
Makes sense. That explains why some "lucky" people who get the OTA early sometimes get more issues than those who get it later.
I've seen this pattern before with Android updates but put it down to user errors - the impatient early updaters perhaps being a bit careless - but Google's rollout strategy is the real reason.
just updated; some sound changes, minor ui changes, everything is white, not that surprising. just a pinch faster. i feel like we were robbed of the genuine kit kat experience, i feel like we only got the wrapper :/
