Call Quality

How is the call quality for this phone? Are people able to hear you talk clearly?

Anyone having poor call quality and significant delay in call audio? I know it may depend on the carrier but I read someplace someone mention they were having poor quality when they are talking on the phone.

Bottom line:

It might be nearly impossible to find this answer. And I don't think you can judge what other people are saying until you test it your self. People live in different areas, different signals, etc.

For what its worth, every review I read and watched, never mentioned anything about poor quality in the calls. And my personal review would say that I have not noticed anything bad about the radios.

The problem with the internet is your always going to find problem with something.

There was an OTA update for the phone last month that fixed a problem that sometimes happened when people were hearing choppy audio you while you talked. I am sure that the initial reviews for the phone were never updated to see if this problem was fixed, if the reviewer noticed this problem.

I've never had any issue with calls, before or after the update. My signal is decent, not stellar, at my house.

Call quality isn't a weak point of the Moto X. I make calls over data and carrier service and the hardware handles it wonderfully.

As previously stated, quality will vary by location and conditions. But the device itself is solid, in this area.

And the speaker is great, I'll add...if speakerphone is your thing.

The call quality issue that was fixed was with the quality of your voice on the other end. Apparently in some cases it was choppy. The only way that you would have known is if the other person mentioned it to you. They must have been using an aggressive compression or something in the original build (unfortunately, they rarely tell you what they did to fix a problem - just that it was fixed.)

One word.

EXCEPTIONAL

Call quality is perfect (in my area anyway) and it worked well on the one drive to Southwestern Missouri I have been on with it.

Call quality is excellent, Motorola excels at this. Always have. They invented* the cell phone after all

My original Moto Droid had excellent call quality too.

I'd call it exceptional as well. Significantly better than my DROID RAZR on both ends.

Coming from a Defy XT that I would describe as not good but passable. I'm now the proud owner of the Republic Wireless Moto X and I'd call the quality nothing less than phenomenal. Honestly almost like being in the same room. Over cell or wifi no difference and the wifi to cell handoff is totally seamless.

Carrier coverage depends on your carrier and the quality of service. The only thing Motorola can do with the phone is voice clarity when you are on a voice call. Prior to the first update I had a hard time hearing the other person during a phone call. After the first update, the clarity of my voice call was drastically improved. For me, this was the biggest improvement made to the phone with the first update. I have never had a better experience with a voice call on a cell phone.

Good question and the fact that I've never thought about it nor had any problems with the X means it must be good, Wifi or cell. I've had call quality issues with previous phones before so I'm attuned to that issue. But the Moto X just works and works well. Call quality fine.
