Just installed one click cwm root, immediately thereafter made a nandroid backup, then did a titanium backup. since this is all new to me, need a little help with two questions. one, do i need both nandroid and titanium backups? i think the answer is yes because nandroid gets the system stuff and titanium does not. even though nandroid backs up the user stuff, too, titanium is way more flexible when dealing with the user stuff. two, should i have cleared dalvik and other cache before doing my first nandroid or my first titanium backup? thanks, everyone.

You can restore apps from a nandroid backup through one of the menus in Titanium Backup. It just takes a little longer because it has to run verification checks on the backup first. But you are right about the flexibility part. As for clearing cache and dalvik cache, its not necessary to clear before making a nandroid. The backup will include those caches as well, and it won't really harm the backup/restore process if it goes uncleared :)

Ah, you flashed CyanogenMod 10 didn't you? Gotta read before you flash...

CyanogenMod-logo_zps8a681044.png

CyanogenMod is an open source replacement firmware for smart phones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system. It offers features and options not found in the official firmware distributed by vendors of these devices.
Features supported by CyanogenMod include native theming support,[3] FLAC audio codec support, a large Access Point Name list, an OpenVPN client, an enhanced reboot menu, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB tethering, CPU overclocking and other performance enhancements, soft buttons and other "tablet tweaks", toggles in the notification pull-down (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS), app permissions management, as well as other interface enhancements. According to its developers, CyanogenMod does not contain spyware or bloatware.[4][5] CyanogenMod is also stated to increase performance and reliability compared with official firmware releases.[6]
CyanogenMod is developed as free and open source software based on the official releases of Android by Google, with added original and third-party code.

Here, We have built CM10 "Jellybean 4.1.2"
For the Zte Warp. its been a long time in the making since out LiquidSmooth release. Things are starting to come together though. There are still bugs, some things not fnctioning as they should, But i think you guys all know the situation by now.

Everything was in the very first post. Camera doesn't work yet in the rom because well its a kernel issue thats being solved slowly but surely. PlayStore isn't in there because you don't have gapps (the google apps package) installed, which you should have downloaded before installing the rom. There is a link to a good working 4.1.2 gapps package towards the end of the thread though.

Didn't work keeps saying gallery has stopped I must of messed up on root or jb update don't know what to do help please if anybody knows what can be done to fix this plus no play store

Once more; not root related, but rom related. Everything is (again) in the first post of the rom thread, including camera, the playstore/ missing gapps, everything. If you want play store, calendar, mail, etc., you will need to download a separate gapps package and flash it on top of the rom.

So I should do it over again and that should do the trick I'm wait for the link on gapps from u than I'm download what u just posted hope it works thanks dude ur the man please post gapps link so I put gapps first then jb cm10?

camera won't work after a reflash; remember, CM10 is still in beta stage. Some things don't work as they should, and it'll be some time until things are fixed.

This link will take you to the rom thread/ the post where I have the gapps link. If you need any further help with the rom or you have questions, the following link is where you need to put it to keep this thread clean and only for questions regarding the rooting process for the Boost Mobile Warp:

Overview:

Rooting is now a one step process for the original Boost Mobile Warp!!! This method works with the B10 update that was pushed out between december 2012 and february 2013. Download one of the two zips below and install update from stock recovery. This will give you Root, install a custom recovery of your choice, install the data fix, and make custom recovery stick from that one single step. I have personally tested by going back to stock using the ZTE software update tool and trying it multiple times. Note, if you have Public Mobile this method will not work, please see post two and try the other methods, please do not post to this thread concerning Public Mobile or other carrier versions of the Warp.

Detailed Instructions:

  • Download a zip with the custom recovery of your choice, and save to sd card:
  • With phone completely shut down press and hold the power button and volume up button at the same time until you see the android system recovery
  • Choose Apply update from sd card (use the volume keys to go up and down and the camera button to select)
  • Choose EasyRootCWM.zip or EasyRootTWRP.zip and hit the camera button to run
  • Reboot and enjoy root/custom recovery!

Both recoveries work great, personally the touch recovery is my favorite, I extend very special thanks to Hroark13 over on xda for porting this recover to the warp and Team Win for coming up it in the first place, please drop by over on xda and give Hroark thanks for bring us TWRP, if you don't know he was legendary over here for getting kernels going etc for us and we would be way further behind where we are today.

Special thanks to these three for finding this method:

Downthemachine
Jetx2x
someone please help it is saying device not compatible when downloading twrp on boost zte n860

Sorry not all of us are geeks but I do have a doctorate.

Yeah, not the issue. I'm not looking down on you, being a geek isn't required, and I have one as well.

I'm just trying to clear up the communication.

In the post you quoted, there was a non-Play Store link provided to EasyTWRP, with instructions on where to put it and what to do to make it work.

Is the Play Store problem happening after you did that, or did you try the Play Store instead?

If instead, please try the instructions you quoted.

If it's happening after the EasyTWRP installation, could you please give me the Play Store link or the exact name there (with developer's name would be great) so I can check your exact steps?

Welcome to the forums! :)

PS - you're on Boost, yes?

I just tried to install EasyRootCWM.zip and EasyRootTWRP.zip both of them gave me the following error message.

-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package ...
Opening update package ...
Verifying update package ...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

And I didn't unzip the files so I don't understand why its not working my SW Version is B10 just like this thread entails please help me I would greatly appreciate it :)
