CWM Flashable - OUDHS CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.3
ODIN tar - OUDHS CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.3
Odin 3.04
Drivers


Directions:

1) Download the above files
2) Extract Odin3-3.04.zip and copy the tar that into the folder
3) Run Odin as an administrator
4) Power your device off
5) Press and hold volume down, home, and power to enter download mode
6a) Connect your phone to your computer
6b) Wait for drivers to finish installing if they need to be
7) You should see Odin find your device by marking a blue square in the ID COM box
8) Click on PDA and choose the tar
9) Click start
10) when it says finished you need to beat your phone in a race
11) you need to unplug it and press and hold vol up, power, and home until the blue text appears
12) let go :p
13 once you have booted into recovery it will handle the script that installs stock recovery if its present.

Congrats you now have CWM now if you wish to root youll need to follow these instructions :)

SuperSU+ 1.25


Directions:

1) Download the above file
2) Connect your phone and copy them to your phone
3) Once they are copied power down your device
4) Hold volume up and power to enter recovery
5) Navigate recovery by using the volume keys and power to select
6) Choose install zip from sdcard, then pick internal or external (where you copied it to)
7) Scroll down to the SuperSU+.zip and select it to install

Congrats you are rooted! this procedure will work on any firmware update you guys get :)

With the SGS4 samsung has introduced a setuid kernel, which will block root access. you will need to flash a source compiled kernel in order to fully root.

Hi... from your instructions when it mentions on #2 copy the the tar into the folder, which one? cause right at the bottom on #8 it mentions choose the recovery tar. A noob questions, but just want to make sure

so 1.0.3.3 is the latest release correct? also just took a notice on the following:

I haven't update to new firmware or received any, will I have any issues after I followed you instructions/post in here

Sorry but kinda of lost... so i dont update before OTA im fine? If i update after root then i had to find a kernel - and where can I find one?

Sorry i bug you with this... On the gs3 it was kind of easier for me, this one i just want to get everything right

just tan into another issue.... i open ODIN but when I select pda and try to find the tar file its empty, even after I extracted. What can I be doing wrong?

dont extract it you want to load the tar in pda slot

MDL and Im lost.

I tried the above steps.. didnt work. Says failed. I tried to reasearch on xda but they are talking in code.. Flashing.. Kernels.. is this Mardi Gras and Popcorn necklaces??

Plz help. I need my wifi hotspot back. Ive checked the youtube vids out but the xda page they refer to has changed.. Why cant this be an easy root like my optimus V and Elite?
