Root [Boost Mobile] Question - Trying to Flash ROM on a Boost Mobile SGS3 - Receiving Installation Error

I recently purchased a Boost Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3, and I wanted to flash a new ROM onto it.

I thought that the Boost Mobile and Sprint versions of the GS3 had the same model number, and therefore were able to be flashed with similar ROMs.

I have gotten this far: - I was able to root it, confirm that it was rooted, and installed CWM touch recovery v6.0.1.2. But when I downloaded a ROM (for example - TheCollective ROM), I am receiving a "status 7" error. I googled the issue and followed the directions to solve it, and I thought it worked.

So I tried to reflash the same ROM and now I am getting an "installation aborted" error. I couldn't find anything that would work on it. I would be really graetful if anyone can guide me to solve this.

Thank you for your help.

its a safeguard in there to prevent people from flashing the wrong ROM. they have a different baseband. you have to remove the safeguard from within the zip

Wetbiker was nice enough to remove the safeguard for the collective ROM.... Look in the sticky section and find the Roms thread.

I made this thread for Virgin Mobile but should work for Boost too.

Thanks... I already got cwm on my boost gs3 using a guide that I found on this place using Odin.. actually already install vanillaroot box... but I can't fixed the problem of mms and 4g so I had to restore my phone... If you know some room nice that no affected that will be nice... thanks!!!

Sorry, I may have misread your post. MMS and 4G are an issue on every custom ROM, but jdsingle76 just released a very nice Knox-free version of the official 4.3 update over on XDA specifically for Boost and VirginMobile. We have a fix for APN's over on the VM side that restores most of the MMS/LTE functionality on custom ROM's, I think junkie2100 has done the same for the Boost side.

Just want to add something. The Collective is buggie and has been removed from the ROM thread until the developer can get it stable.

The ROM the has been modified to flash with Boost Is Dirty Unicorns.

The rest of the AOSP ROMs will need to have the updater-script modified. :D

Vanilla Root Box is another nice ROM. Just keep in mind that these are all AOSP based and take some work to get them working. 4g is iffy with them too.

I recommend going with the Touchwiz ROMs. There are plenty to choose from. I'm running Wicked Sensations right now and loving it. :D

I don't have 4G in my area. The other guys have been having issues with 4G and the AOSP ROMs. Junkie has been working on a fix.

Maybe one of these other guys who have 4G can help you. I do know that everything works on the Touchwiz ROMs though (4G, MMS, etc). ;)

Only use Sprint roms if you're on Boost. The others will probably brick your phone!!!!!!!!!

If you're having problems with 4G/MMS just post a question in that thread. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on the subject will be able to help out. There is a MMS fix you'll have to do, but that's explained in that thread also.

Good luck.

MOAR probably is the most stable custom rom out right now. 4G mms and everything works. It's what I'm on right now.

MOAR is definitely the cream of the crop when it comes to stability and modifications. Of all the ROMs I've seen over the years, it's definitely one of the best by far. Rompnit and Team nOObz have put together a masterpiece. :D

I've been running Wicked Sensations now for several weeks and am very impressed with it too. Since setting it up this last time and flashing the 747 kernel, I haven't has one issue with it. Dazednconfused along with Team Wicked have done their homework and created a masterpiece as well.

As far as I'm concerned, MOAR and Wicked Sensations are the top 2 Sprint Touchwiz ROMs available to us right now. You can't go wrong with either of them. :)

The only issue with either of these ROMs is finding the time to figure out all of their goodies because they are packed with them. :D

I'm Jelly, i haven't got my 4g working on my MOAR rom. every time i flash it no data work., But when I'm flash back to my stock. My 4g and 3g works.

Try going into settings and updating your profile. Hopefully that will work for you. I wish I could be of more help but I don't have 4G in my area. :(

You could also try updating your profile and then doing a battery pull for a minute or so. A battery pull can work wonders sometimes. ;)
