Latest Android 4.3 firmware releases, fix bugs

Well today I had to come home early due to an emergency. So I've not been on the phone as much as I would. However here's a screen shot of my battery tonight http://imageshack.com/a/img855/2262/b5g7.png

Your screen has been on a lot for it to use 42% of the drain on the battery.

GSAM is a battery monitor/usage app. Another good one I like is Battery Mix.

Cheers, I'll take a look at those apps, the phone has now had to go on charge. Screen being on for checking texts throughout the morning, made a phone call to my fiancee and then used social media when I got home. Had to make a call to my bank, so checked for the number online. That's it.

Update on my 4.3 update. While I thought everything went smoothly... and for the most part, it appears to have been so... tonight I've had a couple of issues pop up... my Lux app does not appear to like 4.3 and after working fine for a good while, has decided to misbehave and not control screen brightness. I've uninstalled it and re-installed it and still have a problem.

Also, somehow my mobile data got turned off. Could have been me, but I don't recall doing anything on the mobile data screen and surely didn't turn it off intentionally.

And I just had something called City ID pop up... which I don't recall ever having seen before.

I'm starting to think that a FDR may be in my future, whether I want to do it or not. The good news is that will give me a good excuse to clean house and put back just the apps I really use. The bad news is I'll have to go back and tweak everything individually and hope my faulty memory is not as bad as I think it is. ;)

Sigh.

Edit: I'm also finding my Gmail sync setting are being reset... as in some of the check boxes are becoming unchecked for some reason. Hmm.

Here's today's stats http://imageshack.com/a/img837/2836/9wih.png. I've considered contacting Samsung for a replacement battery, however my nearest service centre is 27 Moles away
It's probably not your battery but some errant process that's killing your phone. That's why the above apps were mentioned as ways of finding out which app is out of control.

PS How far is 27 Moles?:)

Google Play services seems to be eating your battery up. Try going to your App drawer > Google settings icon > Location > ...keep Access Location checked but uncheck Location Reporting and Location History... see if that helps.

Also, go to Settings > More > Application manager > All (swipe across) > Google Play services and clear cache, (not data).

Now go to the App drawer and select the blue Google (search) icon and > Menu > Settings > Google Now > turn it off.

Try and see if you can live with the above for 24 hours and see if it helps your battery.

Nice one 2badmice! :)

Certainly looks a lot better than this 11.5 hour battery life you were complaining about. That was with only a couple of tweaks!

It's really beginning to grind me even more.

Today my phone was unplugged from the charger @ 07:09, by 16:30 Battery Widget Reborn told me I had 2 hours left, this update has made things worse!!!!

Samsung, you're in risk of losing a very very loyal customer.

Ironass it seems that you last tips helped, am thinking that Google Now was part of the culprit. I'd never used it until 4.3.

You did the right things. You went the whole hog and did a Factory Data reset and proved to yourself that the phone was not at fault and that the Android 4.3 stock firmware was not to blame either. That only left, as it usually is in these cases, the users apps and settings.

I've has enough, I think a phone call to Samsung is on the cards. I've gone back two years to how it was on my HTC Desire HD.

One fed up Samsung customer

I guess that phone call to Samsung can wait. With a few more tweaks and setting changes you could almost double your earlier battery life. ;)

At long last... an official statement from Samsung regarding the Knox Security flag and your warranty.

About rooting Samsung KNOX-enabled devices and the KNOX warranty void bit

The way I read it, is that the status quo has returned and the old, "Don't ask... don't tell", policy of a stock ROM, if possible, for warranty repairs is back in force and that Knox will not be used to deny warranty. This has already been borne out from the numerous posts on xda, see #1.10 in post #1, where people have had their devices repaired in spite of a blown Knox flag.

So, it would seem that only those who need Knox Security for BYOD for work purposes, need to be concerned about blowing the Knox flag.

I feel a re-write of a number of my guides and posts is now needed.

So, I got the official update to 4.3 notification on Monday. Went on head and down loaded it. (Took around 30 min. total and not sure how big the file was.) The download went without a hitch. Some of the things I've noticed since the update:

1) There seems to be more slowness/lag when moving thru apps and home screens. (Not sure if its because I have a live wallpaper.)

2) Twice my phone froze and I had to do a battery pull. (This was during updating apps and another just after waking phone up.)

3) Window transitions seem slow at times. I'm playing around with Developer Options and animation settings to see if that helps.

4) Had the Knox security pop-up window show a few times when connecting to remembered wifi. (Haven't seen the pop-up in a day or so now.)

I'm trying to hold off doing a factory reset, until after receiving 4.4.
