I have the Note 3 and beside the subpar speakers, it is a great phone! However all the neat features of it such as the S-pen (air command), sketchbooks and a few others I rarely use. I have also tried a variety of launchers but I always end up going back to Touchwiz. I don't plan on rooting my phones because I'm OK with my carrier.

However Google play will never be as good as itune apps. Reason being is Google does not support indies developers and despite tools that would make it easy for games to be supported on all android devices such as Corona and Unito (spell wrong), Google doesn't seem to care about the indies developer themselves. I have always assumed that Itune game apps will always be bigger than android because it started out earlier but every new game apps will come out the same time for both platform but I was wrong. Itune already have lot of exclusives that will never come to android or will come out at a much later time. When comparing the library of probably the most well known game apps company "Gameloft", there is 128 games for itune vs 47 for android, and that just one company.

Of course as of right now i have no interest in Iphone however if the Iphone 6 come out at a whopping 6 inches and has 128 gb of on board memory (taking out the need for storage space) and long lasting battery, I see no reason to upgrade to the Note 4 or stick with Android in general.

Beside the S-Pen what does Android have that Iphone don't? I think I can deal with the crappy IOS interface if it mean I can have access to all the latest and greatest games. Entertainment on the go is extremely important for me and Netflix don't cut it.

Switching back to IOS? No, Apple stopped innovating a year before SJ died. Fingerprint readers? Laptops have had those for YEARS. Their latest phones are leaving people so underwhelmed, they had to start giving away their own premium apps to make up for the lack of innovation.

Google does not support indies developers
Based on what, exactly? Be specific.

if the Iphone 6 come out at a whopping 6 inches
That will never happen.

When comparing the library of probably the most well known game apps company "Gameloft", there is 128 games for itune vs 47 for android
Do you really need Hello Kitty Kart Racing?

Entertainment on the go is extremely important for me and Netflix don't cut it.
Again, specifics are needed here. What, aside from the less popular Gameloft games are you missing exactly?

Welcome to the forums!!! :D I'll try to take these points one at a time :)

Many people like touchwiz. Nothing wrong with staying with it if you like it :D. Personally, I had the SIII for about a year and couldnt wait to get rid of everything touchwiz and onto a pure android experience (nexus 5). The great thing about android, is that you have to choice to pick what suits you

I don't plan on rooting my phones because I'm OK with my carrier.
Rooting really doesn't have anything to do with your carrier. You may be confusing this with network unlocking your device. All root does is gain administrator access to your phone.

However Google play will never be as good as itune apps. Reason being is Google does not support indies developers and despite tools that would make it easy for games to be supported on all android devices such as Corona and Unito (spell wrong), Google doesn't seem to care about the indies developer themselves. Its pretty well known apps on Itunes make more money than they do on the android market. Some developers will put their apps there first, and then port it to android after.

However, please note that is not all developers. There are android exclusives as well.

Not to mention, many times the app you are looking for on android is free, whereas itunes wants to charge you.

Of course as of right now i have no interest in Iphone however if the Iphone 6 come out at a whopping 6 inches and has 128 gb of on board memory (taking out the need for storage space) and long lasting battery, I see no reason to upgrade to the Note 4 or stick with Android in general.

Apple has been testing bigger device screen sizes, thats no secret. However, the rumor mill always turns up some crazy things (touch sensitive wood on the moto X anyone?. Keep in mind you'll pay a boat load for that extra internal storage, or you could just get a 16+GB phone and place a 64+GB SD card in it for a fraction of the cost (likely hundreds less) than you'd pay apple to put it in there for you.

Beside the S-Pen what does Android have that Iphone don't? I think I can deal with the crappy IOS interface if it mean I can have access to all the latest and greatest games. Entertainment on the go is extremely important for me and Netflix don't cut it.

S-anything is a Samsung feature, not android.

So what does android give you that apple doesnt? Choice

After owning every iPhone from the original up to and including the 5S, I grew increasingly frustrated with it's tiny display. The meager increase in screen size was too little, too late.

iOS 7 pushed me over the edge.

Now I have a few new Android Smartphones that have proven ideal for my needs. Why more than one? Simple, I'm so impressed with the flexibility and usefulness I decided to buy a nice selection for the fun of it.

Between my Nexus 5 and Galaxy Note 3, I'm very well equipped to enjoy the best of Android.

There's no way I'd return to the closed proprietary iOS, no matter what!

Thanks to Sprint I never had an iphone. Back when they were at&t only I will admit I desperately wanted one, but our account was always on sprint so I couldn't get it. Sprint released phones to try to compete with the iphone ( the samsung instinct comes to mind) but they were never really able to have a good offering until android came out. In its early years android was trying to copy the functionality of android as much as they could but until the last few years they were subpar. I think the HTC EVO 4G was the first really big phone on android that started to put a hurt on ios. There have beena few other great phones too but that one was really popular and my first phone that I actually loved. Now there are a handful of great phones out that in my opinion beat the hell out of the iphone. The N3 is an absolute iphone killer. I can see there's a steep learning curve but my experience with android is that the more you put into it the more you get out of it. There is so much going on under the hood that you just have to see other people do, learn about watching video's or reading forums like this.

The only thing I'm still jealous of on the ios side the the manufacturer support. I always joke around that you can go into a public bathroom and there are ipod docks on the urinals you can use to have music while you pee. lol Everything from car stereos to refrigerators have docks for iphones and that has to be nice. My wife's car stereo will sync to her S4 and play music and use hands free, but if it was an iphone it would also display song titles and play iheart radio with full menu support too. It's going to take a while for android to catch up in those arenas but its coming. What makes it tough is there are so many manufacturers making android phones in so many different form factors that a lot of that stuff is just too difficult to get together on but I know eventually it will happen because there's just too much money being left on the table.

The things I know are this. Android is here to stay, has more flexibility then ios and is on the upswing as compared to the downswing that ios is on. Google is bigger than apple as is samsung and they are pooling their resources together to make the phones even better. I see nothing but great things in android for the next few years.

I say give it some time to grow on you and if you still want to go back do whatever makes you happy. I'm thinking though that if you did there would be more things you would miss about android then you do about the iphone now.

While the iPhone is a good phone, I found it to simplistic and restricting. The iTunes hell I had to go through just to add music, the horrid battery life, the small screen, etc.

I went from a 4S to a Galaxy SIII and now to a Note 3, and I have never been happier with a phone as I am with the Note 3. It has great battery life, excellent performance, and I love the S-Pen.

It boils down to how you use your phone. I am more of a power user, so I am happy with android and will never go back to IOS for a phone unless something really drastically changes.

I realise this may be controversial, based on the comments from the posters above me, but yes I would definitely consider switching back to Apple.

This is purely my opinion, plain and simple. It is not a statement of fact so please feel free to disagree with me in a constructive manner. All flaming and "you're wrong" posts will be happily ignored.

I currently use an iPhone 5 and a Note 3 and to be honest the iPhone is a great phone for my uses. The battery life is not as good as the Note 3 (obviously, considering the battery capacities in question) but it is damn close.

If Apple release a bigger iPhone then I would consider dropping my Note 3 and moving all my phones back to Apple.

Whilst I do like my Note 3, I find that I rarely use the S-Pen, nor do I use any of the Samsung 'S-Apps' on a regular basis.

I love my iPad and consider it to be my most used device, bar none; I just could not do without it.

I don't own a Mac computer and probably never will as I build my own PCs and currently have one that probably cost me upwards of ten grand GBP in components that will suit my needs for a very long time.

Android is great and whilst there are a lot of options and customisation available, it isn't always a good thing. Time and again have I found an Android app that was allegedly compatible with my device only to find out upon installing that it in fact wasn't.

With the many updates from JB 4.0 onwards, some of the apps I originally installed now no longer function. One dev has updated his app but has removed the original and now asks that any users of the original app re-buy and download the new app. Yeah...no.

Don't get me wrong, Apple isn't perfect by any means. When things do go wrong, it's fairly catastrophic and things will stay that way until an update is pushed out by Redmond. No removable battery and no SD card is an issue for some people (not me as it happens, I don't really care about that) and the cost of the devices is prohibitive. The rumour mill says, and I think quite rightly, that a larger screen iPhone 6 will likely cost even more than the current iPhone 5s, pushing it into the category of ridiculousness. iTunes is the most hateful piece of software out there but at least it works most of the time, unlike the appalling effort HTC came up with. Even Kies 3 functions better, and that's saying something!

In the USA, I can buy an unlocked iPhone 5S 64Gb for LESS money than I can buy an iPhone 5S 16GB in the UK. With the 6 being more expensive here, if I do decide to buy one, I shall wait until I go to the USA.

What i'm trying to say is that neither brand/device is perfect. They both have their pros and cons and it is a matter of which pros are essential and which flaws are game breaking for you.

As I have said many times before on these hallowed pages, I will use whichever device suits my needs but I am a fickle phone-whore, gaily swinging from one phone to another when the wind changes direction...

You know, you didn't actually say anything that Apple did well. You just talked about the extraneous features of Samsung phones that you could do without. I can't imagine why anyone would ever buy an iphone, as they are a terrible value. Android phones have MUCH better specs, and for lower prices. Why would you ever pay more for an iphone? Because of the google app store?

The quick answer: No.

The longer version: BWAHAHHAAAHHHAHAHAHHHAHAHHHAHHA, NFW, NO, NEVER!!!!

Seriously though, I had an iPhone for a couple years and it was a great phone. But once Android caught up to (and blazed WAY past) iPhone, it was game over. I used my Android phone (my last one before the Note 3) for all of about two weeks before I knew I could never go back to iPhone.

Well, never say never, but it would take a miracle. And quite frankly Apple is quite happy and making a ton of money from the Lemmings with no imagination. I don't say that to be mean. There are those people out there who don't want to make their phone theirs, they are happy that it just works. They fear change.

What does Android have that iPhone does not?

Large screens
Launchers (you like Touchwiz? Really?!? You should definitely go back to iPhone!)
Widgets
Gesture typing (Swype, Kii, SwiftKey, etc, etc)
S-Pen (okay, not an Android thing but only on an Android phone)
Multitasking apps (again, Note 3)

And the single biggest thing: NO ITUNES!

You like iTunes?!? There is definitely something very wrong with you.

That is the MOST confusing statement I've ever seen, in connection with Android. There's a reason that Android is considered an "open" platform. iOS is not an open platform whatsoever.

If you are referring to games that developers make "exclusive" to iOS, there are multiple reasons that might be the case. If this is truly one of your reasons for going back to an iPhone, sounds like you might be more suited to a closed system than an open one.

I wanted to go with the Nokia 1520 Windows phone instead of this Note 3 but Nokia only releases their good phones for AT&T which I won't subscribe to.. ever. So that's the only reason I have a Note 3. I wanted a large phone that fit my hands. I'm 6'6" and have big hands (can palm a basketball easily). This phone is the perfect fit.

But I still wish I had the 1520. Wanted that 20 MP camera. I use a Dell Latitude 10 tablet that has Win 8 on it and absolutely love it. Yeah the apps market is lacking but I love the layout much better than Android.

I would NEVER go Apple for anything. You are paying 20% more just for the name.

Lol - so good of you to come onto the Phandroid forum, a member for all of a month with a whopping 21 posts and wax poetically about the OP and then commence to 'educating' us about the internet.

You may be right, he might a troll. But he was generally respectful and just might be really looking for genuine opinions. We at Phandroid (unlike so many other forums - the kind you refer to) are a community of people that try to take the high road and help each other, especially the noobs.

Spend a little more time surfing around and you'll see that. In the mean time, welcome to our little universe. We are glad you stopped by.

Why do you guys give this troll his jollies by feeding him acknowledgement.

Did anyone read his post carefully? (what a knucklehead)

So the folks who have responded believe that after having this N3 and checking it out for a while, he suddenly woke up yesterday morning and said, "I'm going to go on the internet, find androidforums, spend some time registering, playing that silly i'm not a robot game, retrieving e-mail, then logging in, ONLY to make exactly 1 post, "I have a N3 and it's a great phone!" ..........then say he's going back to ios, "how about you".

lol - you guys must be new to public forums.

Anyone here know what Kris Kross is? .....

Jul 2, 2013 - Kris Kross star Chris Kelly died of the combined toxic effects of heroin, cocaine, ethanol, hydrocodone and alprazolam.

I bet if a Mod ran this persons IP address, they will find

kriskross already has another username (or two) on this site, but don't want to troll with it, so they made this account.

or

krisskross has a user account that has been BANNED from this site, and is simply making up another

Someone check this IP addy, (or is he using a free web proxy to log in)

Android phones have left iphones in the dust. Apple's newest, greatest flagship has 1gb of RAM, 4inch screen, 8mp camera, 1.3ghz dual-core? That's completely PATHETIC. And they still charge you an arm and a leg!! Fuuuuuuuuuuk apple.

While I agree that it is a lot to charge for the hardware they give you, the iPhone is certainly no slouch when it comes to performance, camera quality, or build quality. Proof that specs don't mean all that much. That being said, I am an android purist and love everything Google.

I had the original droid and when Verizon got the Iphone so did I. When I have friends that ask the differences here is how I sum it up

Iphones are smart phones for dummies. Good phone and a nice app store but you are limited to what you can do. A good example of this is I got my mom(72 years old) an iphone

Androids are for the rest. Those who want to experiment or already know a smartphone and want a great experience.

Saying that IMO Apple does have Android in 1 way. Everyone gets the software update at the same time.

Overall I like then both. They both have positives and negatives. In the end it is up to the user to decide what they like better. Right now for me it is Android. Down the road who knows Apple might pull its head out of their butt and make another great phone

thats awfully rude!

Some people are happy to use a phone which just works - is the same as their friends. Others want more and will venture to Android or windows phone as a midpoint between the 2. I think implying the users are dummies just indicates how narrow minded you are.

I've found people who have iphones dont really care what colour their icons are or how big they are or what widgets do. However let them use a good android and they are generally impressed.

A few words of advice seem in order here.

1. This is a discussion forum. As such, any discussion is allowed provided it (a) is on-topic in the sub-forum and (b) remains civil.

2. There is a "Report Post" button under the poster's details. If you have concerns about anything please use that rather than throwing unsubstantiated allegations around in public.

3. From the Site Rules:

Please treat other members with respect. These forums were put together for Android fans to come together and help each other, collaborate and discuss in a positive way

No matter what the device we are always happy to help people with issues with their devices, regardless that this is an android forum. If someone comes with issues with their iPhone I still will try and help them to the best of my ability.

The motto around here is trying to help everyone, regardless of device. So let's not get negative about certain opinions you may have about iPhones :)

This is a opinion from almost a complete newbie? Example I barely know what Root means. My roomate has the latest and greatest Microsoft phones and tabs which I find to be ok. I had a Iphone 4 and hated being so tied to Apple like having a babysitter.

I now own three Android devices without getting into the real technical parts of the operating system I love how I can take a blank screen and in 10 minites have what I want where I want it. Bottomline you don't need to be a hardcore techie to enjoy Androids ability to be customized.

Again, specifics are needed here. What, aside from the less popular Gameloft games are you missing exactly?

I miss these GameLoft games and this is just from Gameloft library.
