Helping you setup your account on LTE

Been using a galaxy note 1 717. changed apn as first post using tfdata as sk337sk337 suggested. NO data at all. called ST and told them to I needed my internet provisioned for LTE. Support told me it was done. Again no DATA.
The ninth and tenth digits of an at&t compatible sim was 26. Should work but did not. I did order a new sim and had it ready to test if needed. I called ST the next day and started the process again. This time support said I needed a new sim to support LTE. Support transferred my number to the new sim, used the tfdata apn and now I'm on LTE network. What a great diffferance the speed is., unbelievable. My original sim was about 1 year old. So you should buy a new one to get LTE to function.

I just did this with on Straight Talk with my HTC One. I called 1-855-222-2355 and just kept asking to get LTE enabled on my account until a representative understood what needed to be done. After 4 calls, I got a guy who knew exactly what to do. He asked me to power off my phone, modified my account then asked me to power back on. Instant LTE.

My advice would be to just keep calling until you get someone who isn't ******ed. I seriously had to call 4 times. The first couple people kept trying to tell me i wasn't in a 4G area or that they didn't need to do anything on their end. ALL FALSE! Just keep trying!

best advice i can give all you folks is to go to att store and get either $40 or $60 gophone plan. You get free sim, they set up your phone, they fix issues, and you get service in person. And get higher tower priority, as well as ability to roam in foreign countries, with extra funds banked in your account. In person service, tower priority, and roaming ability plus free sim card well worth extra ten bucks for $60 over net 10 $50 or $45 st plus tax. Not worth the aggrevation.

be carefull about doing that, as some of those may have been originally acquired with hacked credit cards. The local general store no longer takes credit cards for pin cards, only cash due to that very reason. Use a verified site like pinzoo or callingmart only. You could find yourself with chargeback problems down the line.

I have an unlocked AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note.. i717. I put in the original poster's apn settings suggestion and my 4g works (Just ordered the newer AT&T sim from StraightTalk with the 9th and 10th numbers being "25"). I also seen the LTE light up but only for a couple seconds and I haven't seen it again. It's been about 10 minutes since I put the APN settings in. Is the LTE supposed to stay on? Or is it normal for it to go on and off? I checked the coverage on AT&T for LTE coverage in my location and there's pretty good coverage. Just not sure if it's normal for it to go on and off or if I should still call and have my internet provisioned..

Thanks

Well it took 3 try's and a supervisor to finally get my LTE on my HTC One X+ phone with a SIM that I bought off Ebay back in April when I first got ST. Three calls into ST and all three gave me the same info and the same APN settings. I was NOT going for a fourth call so I asked for a supervisor and told him my settings and that I had other friends who were able to get LTE. I told him its a setting in my account that needs to be chagend. I waited about 4mins till he came back on the phone and said for me to reboot my phone. I told him no need because the LTE all of a sudden came on.

I said since he is a supervisor he needs to retrain his employees and to update their online documentation since they are all reading the same script which is why ALL us customers are getting frustrated. I said if he does that, then its going to make him look good because the customers will be happy that they are getting the right info.

So bottom line here folks is you dont need a new sim like sk337sk337 said and that if you get the run around, ask for the supervisor. Let he or she know the APN settings you have entered and say that your friends were able to get it also. DONT GIVE UP!!..

BTW, i went from 3.5mbs to 16mbs!!!!! ... Oh Yesss!!!

Success!

Took four calls, everyone I talked to including the last told me "We don't offer LTE on GSM plans" (I made them aware that their website said that they did) Apon realizing that they did in fact offer LTE for GSM they then told me that the sim I had purchased "didn't have LTE technology" I told them that my research had lead me to believe that the sim i had purchased was manufactured after the LTE changes took effect on the sims, and finally I told the last tech (if you can call any of them techs) that I "Had a friend with a lesser serial number that was able to call in and have LTE added to his account... She finally asked me to power off my phone, a few minutes later she asked me to power it on and low and behold LTE pops up and I'm getting 19MB/s in my apartment!

So long story short thanks for the guide! And those having issues getting it added don't give up they can and will add it... it just may take a while to find a willing "tech".

4 calls, 4 fails.
Supervisor failed.

They're convinced that it's because I don't live in the center of an LTE area. (Yet my daughter's postpaid AT&T has LTE all over the house) I have yet to see anything but HSPA. I drove 30 miles toward the center of the "coverage area" and saw no noticeable increase in service and no LTE.

Ordered AIO today. ST = failed experiment.

Hate to hear that. Sometimes, you do just get lucky with someone who has done the change before. Good luck with AIO.

Good luck. I lucked out and my activation was semi-painless (they are insanely difficult to understand on the phone with those heavy accents).

Just a heads up on the AIO TOS on highspeed data:

"High-speed access with download speeds up to a maximum of 8 Mbps for compatible devices."

You can find that by clicking on the link called "* Additional plan information and terms" on right below the no contract rate plans.

So .... I've been going through Straight Talk **** for almost two weeks now ... keep hearing from the telephone support that "LTE isn't here" though their online help confirms that I'm in a strong LTE area.

After all of that, I've gone ahead and spent the $7 to get a new SIM card and, can't believe it, I was sent one of the OLD sim cards! (# is 24!).

So I'm apparently back at square one..........

STUPID thing is that I had a previous phone, with Straight Talk, that received LTE here. It was dropped in water and had to be replaced. In order to get LTE on that phone, I had spoken with someone at ST who put me on hold, came back and told me to turn it off and on, and immediately received LTE coverage.

I guess it's a crapshoot as to getting a semi-literate person on the ST system who understands what and how to do it?
