How many people out there have the T-Mo $40/mo data only plan???

I have it and make VOIP calls through sipagent. I was wondering who else out there has this plan as well so I know I am not alone.

Anyone else out there with the same T-Mo plan???

I'm on a T-Mobile plan for $39.99 but it includes both voice and data.

I have 500 minutes with Even More Plus for $29.99 and the $10.00 unlimited web data plan. With the $10 unlimited data plan, you need only change your APN. My N1 speed tests as fast as it did on the $25 "official" android data plan.

There's little point in data only when you can have 500 minutes plus nights/weekends and mobile to mobile cellular calls for the same price.

Just curious as I could not get sipagent to work with my gizmo5 sip account over comcast wifi.

I tried using google voice to route calls to my nexus phone over voip /gizmo5/fring and a prepaid cellular phone on verizon's network. Driving around Portland, Oregon it looked like VOIP / data was missing some calls. Is it reliable enough for you.

Oh yeah, SipAgent is very reliable for me over Wifi or 3g (I live in SoCal so T-Mo 3g is great). I had SipDroid for awhile making calls through that but I would always have to make a call, then ask the person to call me back to not hear static. I switched to SipAgent and it's been great ever since.

Now setting up the Gizmo/GV/SipAgent was pretty tough at first since I didn't know what I was doing at all so it took about a week of testing but I finally got it up and running and couldnt be happier only paying $40/mo.

The whole reason I switched from the 3gs to a N1 is the fact of saving $30/mo really add's up over a 2 yr contract. $720 saved over the 2 year contract period which more than paid for the N1 price.

You know, T-Mobile, if anything, is known really well for their customer service and willingness to go outside the mold and do things their way. It is because of T-Mobile that we have seen rates for unlimited calling plans fall, price of adding lines fall and most of all, more options at what plans we can choose from.

I know they are not perfect, but I have no issues with them.

Now, here is my situation.

I got my T-Mobile plan back in June of 2009. Signed up for a 2 year contract which puts me out to June of 2011. I have been on their 600 Min/mo plan with MyFaves. Thanks to MyFaves, I don't eat into my minutes too much, but I am using my phone more and more for business than not, so I am getting close to using my minutes up (thankfully most people I talk too regularly are T-Mobile employees, so Mobile-2-Mobile kicks in), but those on other carriers (like my family) eat into my minutes.

Anyway, I wanted to go to an Unlimited Plan with Voice, Text and Data and found that it was cheaper than my 600 Mon/Mo plan!!

So the plan I ended up with is this one:

Even More Plus Unlimited Talk + Text + Web

Now, even though this is a non-contract plan, and I am still under contract, they allowed me to change to this plan, at the non-contract rate, but told me that I have to finish my contract term before I can cancel (or get hit with the ETF), then after that, I can stay on the non-contract plan and just pay month to month without being forced to re-new.

Drawback, I don't get a subsidized phone at the end of my contract term if I stay on this plan, unless I change my plan to a contracted plan (which is more per month).

Option: Use their EIP service to buy a new device, spread the payments for that device over 20 months with no interest or fees.

All in all, very nice and something that is worth looking into if you are paying more than $79.99/mo for your voice/text/data plan.

I'm using GV Dialer, and today I had a problem with it connecting to google voice. It couldn't verify the account settings, but I found that the way to fix this was to log into

google voice in my mobile browser, then open the standard non mobile version by clicking the link on the bottom left.
I saved it as a link also. When changing from wifi to 3g it seems to loose credentials. Making the browser connection fixes it.

I do love t-mobile. While the Incredible is tempting, I'm not leaving because I've been loyal to t-mobile since 2002 or so, and their customer service is awesome, and their prices can't be beat.

I too switched to an even more plus family plan, though not unlimited talk. Just don't talk that much.

If I could manage to get free texting with google voice, and/or get 3g data with the $10/mo. plan (I'm reading this is possible), I could save even more!!!!

Who cares if you can't get a subsidized phone, you still save more $$, and you can spread it over $20 months, and if you loose your job, you're not locked into expensive data for 2 years.

How many people out there have the T-Mo $40/mo data only plan???
