4G LTE is pretty quick around here. I'm living in the fringe of 4G reception and manage over 8Mbps down / 512Kbps up.
When I drive a little further out, past where 3G even makes it, and try anything while on 2G... arggg.... painful to try to do anything real-time (like web surf). But things that can happen at its own pace in the background (like email, weather updates, etc) work just fine.

2G is very slow - you will definitely notice a difference.
