Help Blank Screen During Phone Call

Has anybody had this problem whereby during a call the screen goes blank and does not respond? It's only happened a few times but last night it styed that way for about 10 minutes before springing back to life just as I was about to remove the battery.

I have seen it reported for other phones that it's a sensor issue but on the SGII is there a solution to it?

Cheers

Not sure if you are explaining this correctly.

1) There is a proximity sensor near the top of the screen to detect when something is close to the screen (say you put the phone to your ear). This way, the screen will off by itself so you can't accidentally touch it when on call.

2) Your screen time out is still working during calls. So if you are on speaker phone and you set screen time out for 15s, then after that time, the screen would also be off.

However you mentioned something about the screen not responding, and that is what I am not sure what you are trying to explain. Maybe a little clarification. Does pressing the power button during calls show the screen again?

Same problem. I have got my first Galaxy S2 yesterday.

My account has just been enabled, so I tried it out by ringing my old phone. When I press the audio-only button, the screen goes black. The mic works fine but I can not see anything on the screen - which means I can't hang up.

Pressing the power-off button at the side of the phone for an extended period (several seconds) eventually causes the phone to power down completely, allowing me to then turn it back on again and start again.

This is a serious problem because it means I can not use the phone *as* a phone. Video phone works okay, but then it means the conversation is audible to all around me, which I don't want.

AHA: Sorted what the trouble is.

I have a protective carrying case (a little wraparound booklet-style thing) in which the phone sits. This triggers the proximity sensor. Simple solution: turn the proximity sensor off.
