I have no idea... I like beeing here, free education, free healthcare, no stupid laws, clean nature/air, lots of lakes, forest... oh well, a border line with Russia, lol... hmm, nothing to complain really. But if I need to choose, maybe Canada or Norway?

As to the first part, I was thinking about this quandary yesterday and came up with a different solution. Rather than move because of all the things that bother me, I'm just going to ignore them. I'm going to quit following the news, and current events and just become an uninformed American. I quit following the tech press about 2-3 months ago, and that was an improvement in my life. Hopefully this will be a similar improvement, but for different reasons. It will allow me to focus more on things that I can control, and I can quit thinking about all the bad things around me.

Canada.
I think Canada has alot to offer with the wilderness and adventure. Am also into my adventure sports and travelling and Canada is a border country with the US which is great for travelling and you can go or do whatever you want, no matter what time of year it is.

I've lived here in Canada, Metro Vancouver specifically, for practically all of my life. I couldn't imagine moving to another country.

Spain's iffy, too - though mostly just economically. Still, probably top of my list. Not unrelated to the fact the missus is Spanish and would like to retire there :rolleyes:

Actually I would be (and have been) happy pretty much anywhere in Western Europe .. well, maybe not the Nordics as they're just too darn cold - like Canada, which would be right up there if it wasn't for the winters

The US could be tempting as I've never actually lived that side of the pond. Or at least, NY, a lot of California and maybe Boston could be - I suspect I'd be lynched within a week anywhere else

After a while people view home by the negative aspects and overlook all the good things ... or take them for granted. When travelling, however, we tend to focus only on the interesting, beautiful and fun things, overlooking the crime, poverty, unrest, politics, etc.

If you can find a place that makes the rest of your life feel like a holiday, then great, but i don't think it works that way.

If I could afford it, I think I would choose Bermuda. It's got enough of formality so you don't feel completely cut off from civilization like you do in some island nations, but it's tropical enough to feel like paradise ... and only occasionally gets hit with hurricanes.

I have been all over the world and there is no place like home. When I drive up into Southeastern Ohio and see the rolling hills and the trees I know I'm home. To me there is no better place in the world than the good old United States of America.

Ohio? Really? You should try Pennsylvania! Now there's a state for you. We have trees and hills and mountains and rivers, too. We have pretzels and cheese steaks, Penn State, The Eagles and The Phillies! We've got the highest gas taxes and business taxes in the country and our roads are decorated with asphalt patches (sometimes). We are the home of Ben Franklin, Jerry Sandusky and Tom Ridge, but our most famous citizen is a groundhog ....

Um, how long does it take to drive to Ohio?

That got me laughing for 5 minutes lol

I love to travel and thanks to Uncle Sam I got to see a lot. They were even nice enough to make sure I got to see Iraq twice! That's not all, after that they made sure I got to go to Afghanistan.

I do feel ya, the weather changes every 5 minutes, what most folks call sinkholes we call potholes.
30 degrees on Monday and 65 degrees the next day is part for the course. There aren't a lot of jobs, and the poor are very poor, but it is still home and I love it.

Wow haven't really did any research. I love the USA. I hate Illinois. It is the worst state to live in the USA. I would move out of the state. I love the sun so somewhere hot. Another country maybe Asia, cuz i love the culture. I also wouldnt mind maybe Britian. I am in love with castles.

I might choose Scotland. Seems like everyone I meet from there are good people and very genuine. Add in the scenery, links golf, pubs and cool castles and what's not to love?

Apart from the food (deep fried mars bars, anyone?) and the weather (coldest, most miserable place I've ever been was Scotland .. in summer), not much

On the upside, the Scots don't have to put up with the lousy food and weather too long - they have one of the lowest life expectancies in Western Europe :rofl:

Seriously, though: it's a beautiful country and the Scots - despite their hatred of the English - are generally pretty nice.

Vancouver and Victoria are the least coldest places in Canada. We don't get much snow here. Just maybe several days each year.
