Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] [ROM][4.4.2][Weekly] SlimKat-d2lte [5.6]

I have run into several problems when trying to flash this. When using CWN Touch as my recovery it will flash and the ROM will boot but all of my network settings (IMEI, MEID, phone number etc...) are gone.

When trying to flash using TWRP as the recovery it will not successfully flash. It will get to the part of "set_metadata_recursive" and it fails with the error of "some changes failed". I am going to assume that this is normal sine CM 11 cannot be flashed with TWRP as well without this type of error.

I simply restore the fresh backup of the ROM I was running so none of this is a big deal but it is strange that I cannot flash it using CWM Touch recovery yet it appears that some people have had some success flashing it.

Oh....and yes...I was factory resetting and then manually wiping and formatting as well.

I had the same issue with TWRP. I downloaded it again and same issue. Going to try it with CWM in the morning.

I had similar problems when I tried installing the 4.3 roms with TWRP. The latest cwm installed slimkat for me with no problems.

Yes, you have to use CWM Touch with these latest 4.4 ROM's. I am not sure why TWRP will not work but I suspect that the latest CWM Touch recovery includes new features that TWRP has not been updated with yet.

You should not have a problem when using the CWM Touch recovery though. Just ensure you backup your current ROM with CWM Touch before you flash (your TWRP backups will not work with CWM). It took a few tries at flashing this SlimKat ROM before my MetroPCS settings would stick and I have no idea why they got lost those first few tries but as long as you have backed up the ROM you are going to be replacing, restoring and giving it another try (at flashing) is not a big deal. While it can be a little time consuming if you have to flash and restore several times before you have a fully working SlimKat ROM installed it is very much worth the effort. While the ROM is a little bit on the slim side right now with things like the themes installer and many of the status bar and notifications settings that were in SlimBean still not in this ROM, it is very much usable and stable. I have the Xposed Framework installed with the Xposed module called Gravity Box (the one specifically for 4.4 ROM's) installed and that gives me some of the missing status bar and notification tweaks. As far as I know, there is not any way to currently change the theme right now though but I suspect that will be coming soon in a future release since CM 11 already has it. All in all, I am very happy with this ROM so far and I feel it is worth the effort I put into getting it on my phone and the little sacrifices that have to be made until some of the missing functionality make it into a future release.

Well now my phone is being stubborn. I tried using Rom Manager to install CWM but it wouldnt stick. It would always go to TWRP for recovery. I tried updating TWRP but that didnt work either. I tried installing recovery through ODIN but it always fails. Now it appears I cannot get into recovery at all. Now I am just annoyed.

Download ROM Installer by JRummy in the app store. It has both twrp and cwm recoveries. Flashes the for you as well.

In case people missed it, Nick has the 1.9 link in his first post. More stable than 1.8 and some minor tweaks. I definitely noticed the improvement. This has been and still is my favorite rom. Thanks for keeping it updated Nick. It's truly appreciated

Edit: you have a donation link or a gmail address I could throw a few bucks at?
