4.3 update Discussion and issues HERE !!!

I updated to 4.3 a couple of days ago. (UK unlocked - Tesco SIM)

Haven't noticed any major problems as yet.

The battery dropped like a stone the first time I used it after the update, but I put that down to fiddling with all the settings etc...

My old battery life was around 1 day 9 hours (just about 2 days, if used lightly).

So I'll keep an eye on it and report back.

I did follow NeoGrandizer's instructions when installing 4.3 though to get as clean an install as possible.

Well that's weird. Mine was doing that before I upgraded to 4.3, but not after upgrading.

Wish I could help, but I tried everything you did. Currently using Poweramp, but like you, I've tried many players, so I'm not sure the player makes any difference.

One reason I'm using Poweramp is that after the upgrade, it's the only one I've found that works right with my Honda Accord Bluetooth.

Updated to 4.3 on AT&T for about week now, and everything is better! It fixed my rotation stuck bug and I love the new Mail app interface. Now when I get an attached jpeg in mail, it doesn't need to open up Gallery app to view it. Picture Editor is fixed too. Before I had to side load it on AT&T as they removed it, but now it is back to be part of the OS. The best thing about the update is the battery life. When my Note II was updated to 4.1.2, my battery life went from 50% at the end of a normal day to about 30%. Now at the end of the day, I get about 75% left! That's about 17 hours with about 2 hours of screen time. So good that I skip charging for a night and went into the 2nd day and ended up with about 30%.

Yay! A good report for a change, although most Note 3 users will probably not even enter a forum so will not give good feedback as they have no issues to do so :)

Not sure about this as my wife still refuses to update to 4.3 lol, but is there a setting in the 'Lockscreen' menu in 'settings' that can change the way the standard message app is displayed in lockscreen, other than that maybe go to your stock message app and go into settings and see if there is an option in notifications to disable it.
I use Handcent so I am not going to be the best one to ask about this.

thanks. tried the locked screen, then popup note "unchecked". didnt seem to work.
but under the settings in messaging app. it is grouped together under "preview message on status bar and lock screen. it is grouped together.
so it will show on both status and popup. which is redundant imo.
i was using hancent. but uninstalled due to some issues i was having.
i may try it again.

A lot of info (above) and slowly learning about my phone due to this last "update" !

Only real and annoying issues I've had, so far, are:

(1) Battery Life is SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASED!
With NO ACTIVE use, within about 3-4 hours, a 100% charged battery drops to around 70%, and with use down to the low 60%'s, and with any major app use, drops to 30% range or lower.

Before "update" battery didn't require daily charging, let alone maybe having to charge more than once a day, with the same usage!

(2) Annoying notifications on Lock Screen.
There appears to be NO WAY, at least no intuitive way, to stop the display of a text message having been received, phone call, etc.

Will be going in to a Verizon Wireless store and asking for resolution of at least the battery issue, and hopefully those annoying notifications as well (which all conspire to drain the battery I'm sure.)

Also, anyone know if there is a "less than complicated" way to revert back to the previous OS version?

I have been trying VERY hard to stay away from the Factory Reset after my 4.3 update. But since I couldn't resolve the issue with wireless devices remote media control where I wasn't able to play/pause from any wireless headphone/speaker - I decided to bite the bullet and went ahead with a reset. Its a major PITA even with all the backups and restores; and although I'm not rooted and used Helium app on N2 and Helium program on my laptop - still had to back up all my pictures, music, and other downloaded files to my laptop.

BUT at the end all my bluetooth devices are working as expected. Case closed.

whats the quickest way to perform this???

the stock kiddie pics are rediculous.

thanks much.
Unfortunately, there's no quick way of doing it. :( It took me a while to get all my contacts without pics that way. Just spent a few minutes a day doing them until I was done.

Good to hear. But not happy I got shafted testing this POS out. When it first came out in Canada, some Hubs didn't work (ie. lost purchases). Photo editor which had to be downloaded and installed crashed on 4.3. Higher RAM usage over time. Random lag. The occasional hard crash requiring a reboot via power button. Granted, they fixed the hubs and photo editor so it works now. But that just shows they pushed it out too early without working out the damn kinks. Overall, I was not pleased with this update.

Battery life is worse with this update for me... 75% left after 17 hours with 2 hours screen time? That's extremely impressive. Please post a screen shot. I'm very curious. Considering 17 hours with 2 hours screen time almost kills my battery. On average, I can only pull in 4 hours of screen time with this update now. I got more screen time on 4.1.2 with the exact same usage.
