Hello everybody. I am compiling as many recoveries as I can for the MeMO Pad HD7.

These are custom recoveries built from source. So they are totally customizable.

A Big thanks to carliv, C3C0, and bgcngm for making MTK recoveries and sharing their source.

INSTALLATION:
There are three ways to install these.

1. If you have not unlocked your bootloader then follow these instructions thanks to
superdragonpt. [RECOVERY] [ROM] ASUS Memo Pad HD 7 (me173x) [MULTILANG] - xda-developers

2. Flash in a custom recovery:
1. Copy zip to sdcard
2. Boot to recovery
3. Install zip from sdcard
4. Select custom recovery zip
5. Accept install
6. Reboot or reboot to recovery
7. Enjoy!

3. Fastboot: note there is no way to boot to recovery while in fastboot mode
1. Extract recovery zip
2. Open terminal or cmd prompt
3. Boot to fastboot mode on device
4. Enter this command replacing <custom> with name of recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery <custom>_recovery.img
5. Enter this command to reboot
fastboot reboot
6. Reboot to recovery and enjoy!

Recoveries can be found below.

I am not responsible if you brick your device, I have tested every one of these on my device.

Feedback is encouraged. Please feel free to make suggestions and requests.

Hi BSydz,

I met a pb during flashing recovery.img and boot.img. The tool I used is MTKDroidTool.
Now my pad hd7 is bricked in the endless boot loop. It is blocked on ASUS white logo and about every 10s it reboots.

I tried volume +- and power button to boot loader menu. Normal mode and recovery mode lose their functions. I can only enter fastboot mode. But as it reboots every 10s and use connection is not detected. I cannot flash anything. Only I can do now is to press 8s power button to shut down the pad.

Do you have some idea to save my pad? PLEASE HELP ME! Thanks in advance.

You can NOT use MTK Droid tools to flash recovery, with our device.

I've done the same thing, and it is gonna depend on your technical expertise.

First try this http://androidforums.com/memo-pad-h...ad-hd7-us-backup-restore-unlock-recovery.html

This should fix the problem, but the drivers are the hardest part depending on which Windows you have. SP Flashtool is gonna be your only way to get back.

Good luck.

Thanks for your tuto. It took me a while to find a windows 7 machine :)
I tried to install the driver and it works unexpected. But SP Flashtool doesn't work well, the error message 8038. I checked the log file, seams that scatter file does not match to my device. So I followed other tuto of superdragonpt from xda (really a long flash process...) Then flash your US stock.

As the result, now my devices is back. But still something bothers me, cause I cannot active wifi, either blue tooth.

My devices is a 4G storage version (not 8G, 16G). Does it exist the stock for 4G storage version (I say NO even I don't want to say that) or some methods to make them function?

The model of my devices is K00U
Kernel is 3.4.5
Version is K00U_CN_user_4.2.4.28680_20131023 release-keys

You probably should have led with that. I would have stressed the importance of doing a few steps in the process.

But, if you followed my tut, then you should have a back up, right? If not, I really can't help you.

The stock ROM should be fine, it is just kernel and system. I think you may have done something during the process. And unless you made a backup, you are probably gonna have a hard time fixing it.

Good luck.

I got the info about my 4G storage device. In fact, the wifi kernel model of is wlan_mt6620 and in the stock of 8G/16G has wlan_mt6628.
Any idea how to compile wlan_mt6620.ko?

First off, I don't know. Second, I did not develop the ROM, this is a stock ROM.

Now, if somebody with that model can contact me, I can make a stock ROM for that model. It seems that there are differences between the 4, 8 and 16 GB versions. So, if you can find somebody with a stock device, I can walk them through the process of pulling the needed files and put a stock ROM together for all the different versions.

As I stated before, after the person figured it out, they never responded with a solution. So how can I know how they fixed it? It seems to be module related, but I have no access to those devices so I can not help much.

Good luck.

Hello, I have the Asus Memo Pad 8 IPS HD (181c), be here in 2 days, can I use these instructions unlocking the bootloader? Have used TWRP's recovery on my HTC (HTC One sv, unlocked bootloader/HTCDev, rooted/Chainfire's SuperSU & Sterick's Busybox, s-off/rumrunner). It would be awesome having a TWRP recovery on this Asus Memo Pad 8. This is the tablet with Bay Trail quadcore Intel processor, 64bit and Kit Kat 4.4. Any ideas on getting it unlocked with a custom recovery & root would be greatly appreciated.
