LG G2 or HTC ONE

Well, I'm looking to get rid of the Thunderbolt and pick up a new phone this weekend. I can't decide between the G2 and ONE..... I'm on Verizon. With 4 kids, I do take a lot of pictures and video. I also listen to quite a bit of music, although usually plugged the the sterio via auxiliary / USB, so not sure how often boom sound would be utilized. Each phone seems to be equal when it comes to battery life. I consider myself a heavy user with apps, social networking and light gaming. Any suggestions?

it seems likely that the HTC one is gonna do pretty well in the end of year phone of the year awards... mental considering it was out in march, and every other flagship model has come out since and still not seemed to best it.... the leading gadget website in the UK still has it at NO.1 on their rankings.. techradar.co.uk , its beautiful and does a lot of things very fast and very smooth... how much more do we need from a phone,,,

I have a G2 (coming from an S3) and love it. Screen is big and gorgeous, battery life is INSANE (you really can't kill it). Storage leaves much to be desired but it's non-expandable on both. Camera is surprisingly great. Haven't used the One, but I gather it's best at low light photos but outdoor shots can be washed out.
Both are great phones and definitely a huge upgrade from a Thunderbolt.
Best of luck! :)

ive been breaking my head for the last couple of days, i cant decide which 1 is better,i helf both of them, altought g2's screen is bigger, for some reason the handling of one is nicer, i dont mind about the build quallity cause i will be putting on a case, i look for a phone with good headphone quallity(i have after market headphones), a solid phone, the ram, processor and gpu is less important, cause i dont see my self going above subway surfers, maybe just maybe something heavier.
Thnx alot for help!

The G2 has a nicer chipset going for it as well as a much larger battery that will always get you through the day. Also a better camera for most things, and if you ask me, LG's UI is much better than Sense but that's more of a preference. I use custom ROMs anyway. The HTC One has a nice metal unibody and fantastic speakers but I don't really see it having much else on the G2. People will bicker about which screen is better but they're both phenomenal. Personally I would get the G2 for the battery alone, and then the more future proof chipset. The HTC metal body is very nice but like the iPhone the second you put a decent case on it it basically doesn't matter.

LG G2 was by far the best choice.

HTC One is old and overrated so good choice. :p

It has allot going for it, I really don't like the rear button but I can overlook that for the good display, battery life, faster chipset, good camera with optical image stabilization and a decent interface which looks similar to touchwiz but their own customization's.

Also LG said they can add the 4K video recording option in future updates.

I need assistance regarding camera comparisons.

I have a Note 3 just now having come back to android after 18 months on ios. The phone itself is great apart from 2 things, the camera and the lock screen.

I have a young family and part of the need for me is to be able to grab a quick snapshot of their activities, using the Note 3 I seem to miss these moments because of the time it takes to pin unlock the phone and once I get the phone unlocked the image is sometimes blurry.

I guess I rushed into the Note 3 to escape ios and my need for a bigger screen but I'm thinking an LG G2 or HTC ONE might be better options for the camera needs I outlined above.

Has anyone got experience of both phones and can relate to the quick camera access needs I have? A pin lock is essential for me as my device is used for work purposes and it appears these 2 handsets offer the security, quick access and ois camera features that would be of benefit to me.

Looking for details of the camera experiences and how long it takes to take a picture via the shortcut.

My initial thoughts are that although the G2 appears to have a better camera, Zoe might be a winning feature only available on the One?

Thanks all in advance and apologies for the length of this!!!

Thanks for the replies folks, going to try both handsets in store tomorrow and put them through some quick paces.

From what I can read online, most reviews place the G2 camera ahead of the One's in all scenarios and as both devices are the same (almost) physical size, the G2 might be a better option with its bigger screen.

Will need to sell the Note 3 if I buy either device, which is a pity as I find it a great device overall.

One final question is can anyone state their preference between the One and G2 ui? G2 looks like Touchwiz, sense 5 a bit more 'polished'?

I've owned both (& the N3).You'd have to give both some time to learn how the U/I ties-in w/the features you'd use most.

But, if forced to choose, I'd take the G2 U/I over SENSE or TOUCHWIZ. The #1 feature that's front & center, the on-screen HOME/MENU/BACK button layout is somewhat customizable. As simple as that is, no one else offers that feature & is what got me looking @ the G2.
Same w/the stock app drawer button, you can move it around to your liking.

Knock-on/off & volume control in the pull-down notification bar is another nice touch.

I could go on, but, I'd ask the same question in the HTC ONE forum, get the best information you can ( lotta nice people & great all-around forum), then, you should be armed w/enough insight to make an informed decision w/o regrets.

Besides, most carriers have a 14-day return policy, so, you can't go wrong either way.

Thanks KOLIO, the 14 day return period is what I am banking on to test the device properly and it also helps keep the Mrs off my back in case it doesn't work out! :)

Has there been any in on the G2 that's left you disappointed to date?

Vs the Note 3, I rarely use the S Pen so I don't see that being a big miss, the quick camera access and the ois functionality is a big kicker for the G2.

Thanks

I don't have the LG G2 but I very much like the G2's specs. However I currently I do have the HTC One and can't see see myself replacing it with anything else on the market at this time. The HTC One is Great, best Andriod phone I have ever owned.

No doubt the HTC One is a good device but to choose one right now over newer devices like the LG G2 and Nexus 5 doesn't make allot of sense.

I still love my Galaxy S4 and much prefer it over the HTC One but if I was choosing a device right now neither devices would be considered.

It would be between the LG G2, Nexus 5, Galaxy Note 3 and Xperia Z1.

The HTC One is Great. But with my HTC One in hand I do not see ANY current devices that I would replace it with. The only up-side I could see to replacing the One is a better camera, but the One is ok for the few pics I take.

The GS3 I had was a lemon. I'm sure that my GS3 was the exception but I will never own another samsung phone because of their customer non-service. They basically told me to go F myself because it would cost them too much money to fix the phone. Never mind the money I spent. So I went back to HTC and I'm happy for it.

If I had to pick a new phone today I would struggle between the HTC One and LG G2. And after holding the LG in my hand I think I would stick with the HTC One. Better screen, GREAT Speakers, solid design and build. :smokingsomb:

Well I've never had to deal with Samsung's customer service as every Samsung device I've owned has worked and is still working to my knowledge.

I have repaired a number of them for others though, which is fairly easy. ;)

The only thing the HTC One has over other devices are the speakers and metal body, the speakers are a great feature however the metal body I can do without as it makes repairs very difficult to impossible.

Most high end phones have better or equal displays today, faster processors, better gaming performance, better battery life, better cameras, expandable storage and removable battery and back covers.

Also the sequel to the HTC One and Galaxy S4 are not far off either. :)
