Help Weather Not Working?

The 'Weather' widget that comes pre-loaded on the LG Revolution stopped working on my phone today. I have not messed with any settings or anything. I picked up my phone it check a missed call and got this message:"The Application Weatheter (process com.lge.sizechangable.weather) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

The widget, which is on my front page is blank (no clock, no weather) and just says 'loading.'

I have tried restarting my phone. I have tried taking the widget off of the page and replacing it. Neither helped. Please, does anyone know why this has happened?

Hey there. Fellow revolution user here. I also experienced the same issue with the weather app and the today widget. It started mid day and weather force closes immediately every time while the today widget simply showed up completely blank when I placeit on the home screen. I feel you're pain I love this phone but it has been acting buggy.please email me if you figure out a solution to this issue. Contacting lg on their forums would be your best bet because they respond very fast and they have the actual IT people on the forums at all times.

Try this:

Remove the widget from your homescreen.

Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications

Once the list of applications generates find the application titled Weather and click it. Once the app controls come up, force stop the app, clear its data and clear its cache. After that go back to your homescreen, re-add the widget and re-set your location within the widget. After that everything with regards to the weather app should be back to normal.

I hope this help as this is what I did to solve my broken weather app a month ago.

I figured it out! I was just about to do a factory reset! :) The app probably updated to a newer version and that's what messed it up.

Go to Settings - Applications - Manage Applications - select Tab "Running" (or choose "All" tab if you force stopped the app before) - scroll down to app "Weather" - select.

In the upper right corner, press "Uninstall update".

Now reboot (just to be sure) and it should work.

Also, if that doesn't help, check whether the stock app "Weather" is not killed on startup by a task killer application.

Let me know if it worked for you!

That didn't work for me :) If that's your case as well, check my previous post.

Yep mine was doing same thing yesterday and wouldn't stop updating and would have to force close when clicking on it. Sounds like it is not a problem with your or my phone but with the app itself. seems to be working today so lets drink up and party down!

I had the same problem immediately after Verizon pushed a phone update out to my phone. I saw the phone update message and watched it happen. When the phone came back up weather app was broken. I thought it was weird because it's a preinstalled app, but there you go. Verizon tech told me he had not heard of any trouble and the update started pushing out a week or so ago. Sounds like others have the same problem with the update.

Tried clearing cache, clearing program data, killing, stopping, rebooting, etc... Didn't help. Widget and weather app from applications crashes after it downloads data. Clearing data lets the program run for a few seconds as it downloads 1.6MB of data then crashes. If the data was not cleared it crashes almost right away.

What did end up working (unfortunately) was a factory reset. The reset keeps the new updates and no new push was needed. All new software versions and new apps added with the update are there, and fixed liek the ones to the text messaging app are still in there. The weather app has worked without any problems since. That was a couple days ago.

Some hints if you choose to do this.
Your paid apps will be available from the market to redownload at no cost from the markey on your phone.
For free apps: If you log into the market from your PC and sign in with the google acount you use on your phone you can go to the "My Library" link. There it shows all the free apps you've installed on your phone as well (along with paid). You can reinstall them right from the web page. Just click the installed button for the app you want to reinstall. I did a whole bunch of them at once and had no problems.

You'll want to back up your contacts unless you're using an exchange server or they are sync'd elsewhere already. If they are sync'd elsewehe they will be re-sync'd with your phone when you set the account back up.

Write down any usernames and passwords for any apps that have logins.
Write down any server or connect information for any chat or other online clients you use.

Using the My Library link on the market web site was a huge time save for me.
