Put the phone on s/w mode. After you open the application on the pc plug the usb into the computer and then plug it into the phone and press volume up at the same time. Then on the application select options/upgrade recovery. You have to have a reliable Internet connection.

The reason this is not working for some is because y'all have flashed wrong kdz's or roms on a locked bootloader... You are having a boot image problem rather than security error or a bad system modification.

However you were able to flash the t-mobile kdz you'll need to try and flash the metro kdz.. I haven't messed with my bootloader so I haven't the slightest..

Im having trouble updating manually right now. Im thinking that the update tool is starting to recognize our phones as rooted now... Im working on trying to find out why it's stopping before the download portion can start.

Hello folks, I have a p769 hard bricked, anyone any experience with this? I think the phone is just gone now, the only function I get is when I hold vol down with the battery out and plug to a computer you can hear it trying to find drivers, it installs drivers called omap but thats all I can get, I tryed a fastboot program and actually seen an lg screen and a s/w screen once but no luck

p.s. I have been having issues with the support tool for weeks, says internet connection stuff.

The issue i'm having is similar to stitan's, the support tool is not downloading the software, it shows no progress at all and just sits there saying "Time elapsed 00:00:25" I really need to get my phone to work. The reason I think it bricked is because I used clockwork recovery and the version of android it worked with was older I think i'm not sure. Please help :/

Im not sure why the lg tool suddenly stopped working for everyone. It worked before the latest software update v10e came out but now it's not. I've been at it for about a week trying to figure it out. I even emailed Lg and they told me to pay for shipping and send it and they do the upgrade for me... Blah blah blah. I don't know what to tell you if fastboot isn't working either..

My fastboot just got to the point where it had a silver LG logo with the word fastboot at the top right of the screen backwards, with a black and grey'ish bar at the bottom...

I've never used fastboot so it's not my area of expertise. Maybe someone who knows more could assist you.

On you pc try and see if you can restore an older version of the upgrade tool to see if that works. I deleted mine and reinstalled so I no longer have an older version. Unfortunately I think the update tool updates itself automatically uoon opening it.

its silly.. same thing happened to me.. if you use the offline flash from xda.. YOU HAVE to have the /etc/hosts right.. uninstall everything LG.. (minus the drivers..) bc2 whatever comes up, complains about no internet connection.. its an older version it just works.. you can flash whatever kdz you want.. i had that stuck at 4% problem too.. i finally brought it back from flashing the ics u and x boot thing.. ics kdz hung at 8%.. stock v10d went on like butter afterwards..

ics wind v11a i think.. fixed the bootscreen.. so yeah.. flash ics u and x.. let it hang on trying to flash that.. then straight back to stock.. this is all new to me too.. havent killed it yet.. honestly though.. v10b metro worked for bobzhome.. he ported cm11 so i trust him..

on windows its windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts.. make sure it blocks it.. should be good to go after that..

should have this line:
127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com

basically you are trickin the lg update tool..

nothing against here but xda has so much more info on this phone.. i'm not a dev or anything like that by any means.. i want an unlocked phone.. the MOST i've done is overclock a kernel on the esteem.. if we can get past this hurdle this thing can be a beast..

Here is what i used.. If you eff up ur phone not my fault..

uninstall lg mobile support tool.. edit the hosts file.. run the ones included.. DO NOT LET it update.. the .vbs did not work for me.. if you are having issues you have to flash the u and x ics bootloader.. (its in the security error fix guide i posted..) this SHOULD fix any brick.. if you do this you can flash whatever kdz you want.. be foreworned its not fun lol.. but yeah.. if you have the time and the patience.. its not that bad..

Download mode is the same as s/w upgrade mode... Try this..

Got my g2 yesterday and I figured out how to unbrick it, which happens to also work for the l9.
I take no credit other than bringing it to you.

1) Download the v10dkdz or v10ekdz

2) Download LG mobile support tool and Install it. (It will open up when its done just CLOSE IT OFF)

3) Download / Install FlashTool (R&D Test Tool) found here. Only download flash tool file.

Power off your phone, press Volume Up & and then plug in the usb cable (enter to a download mode)

5) Extract FlashTool and run UpTestEX.exe

6) In R&D Test Tool window,
Select Type = 3GQCT (top left hand side)
PhoneMode = DIAG (top right hand side)
Select kdz file = click to select your LG stock rom *.kdz
Click "Normal web upgrade test" (bottom right hand side)
Then another window will pop up, click "Upgrade Start" button
wait a few seconds, another window "Select Country & Language" pop up,
=> Country=Republic of Korea
=> Language=English
you can click ok to proceed

7) All Done and wait for finish!

If you changed the hosts file to use offline method previously, you'll have to open up the hosts file using notepad ran as administrator and delete the last two lines you added, save and restart your computer

You don't use the support tool upfront. You have to use the r&d test tool. It will open the support tool and load the kdz. Forget everything about the support tool just open r&d and select the options explained in the above guide I just posted. Ill try to make a video later. Also give yhe comp time to install the drivers in upgrade mode

Here's the video. You are clicking on the wrong section.... In the guide it says to select "NORMAL WEB UPGRADE TEST" at the BOTTOM of the r&d test tool
