Best News App?

I've been searching for the best news app and there are so many that are so similar that I just can't decide.
Ones that have interested me include Feedly, Flipboard, Google Currents, Google Newsstand, and many more. Also, I dont care at all if the app is free or paid.

There is no "best" news app. Each of those that you mentioned is very good on its own. "Best" is entirely subjective in this case - try them each and see what fits your needs the best.

For me, I've played a bit with each of the ones you mention and I've settled on Newsstand - but again, that's just me.

I've been playing with Newsstand and enjoy using it. I also have local news apps install for current news.

I used Pulse: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alphonso.pulse

The articles are arranged in rows from each source and you can scroll sideways to view articles for each source. You can scroll vertically to see other sources off the bottom of your screen if you have many sources. You can also group your new sources in different pages like Sports, Business, Technology, etc. or in any catagories you choose.

Feedly is the best for me. As for what would be best for you, you'll have to give them all a try till you find one that fulfills your needs.

Are there any big content differences between the major news apps? Or is it mainly just style?

If you want the quick read, tldr reader is good. You can set it to different topics & get a run down of headlines in each, click on them to expand, then go further (invoke web browser for source articles). Funky colours in a phone friendly app.

Google currents is ok too.

When I had my Bionic I used BBC News only because it was from a different perspective. Not the US news services where the tell you what they want you to hear not what is the correct news. Currently I have not installed any news program on my phone yet.

I like both Flipboard and Play Newstand. Keep going between them, not sure which I like better yet, but both look great.

i used to like pulse..not so much since linkedin bought it.

currents is my go to. works very well with the xposed slide back module.

Flipboard is really nice, I have actually noticed how nice Google currents is. I never even knew google had a news application, but they did a pretty good job on it.

Personally I favor Feedly and Flipboard, I'm trying to like Newsstand but it isn't clicking with me. Like others have said - you really just have to play with them and pick the one that works for you.

I tried Pulse and a few others, but kept coming back to Google Currents, which is now Newstand.

my bad, funk...had the name wrong. it's swipeback. nice little add-on. instead of hunting and pecking for the back navigation button, you just slide whatever you are looking at away, revealing your previous screen. works very well on the n7 imo.

If you have a hobby or other specialty interest that you like to keep up on, PURE News Widget is excellent - it let's you include your own RSS feeds. Otherwise, I like Flipboard.
