Root [GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Motion 4G [KDZ]

the attatchment is the log. I let it run 9pm to 1am ET and it never ended with "finished" or anything. what it shows is what i got. after all that time, it does not let me to use the play store. it does allow me to use the play store. i have also tried with the C version. same result. i am now trying to install gapps as if it were a custom rom.

No, don't do that. Just factory reset.

Optimus Regard users, use this guide:
http://androidforums.com/optimus-re...-unbricking-unrooting-optimus-regard-kdz.html

If you are running version b firmware, please do not do anything to your phone until after contacting me. We need some files from that phone that may help us unlock the bootloader.

To find out which version of firmware you are running, go to:
Settings>About Phone
Thank you :)

Right now it is likely that anyone here will brick due to the phone having a secured bootloader. Flashing this firmware is your best shot at fixing any brick from screwing up stuff with root permissions.

Downloads:

How to get into emergency mode:
Hold Power+Volume Up+Volume Down
To get out of e-mode, pull battery (do not do this while flashing firmware!)
Picture of emergency mode (Thanks to Sepero):

Thanks to DarkStarONE for how to enter emergency mode.

Before flashing firmware, please make sure your battery is well charged. Flashing does not charge your phone, and flashing can take up to 30 minutes.

Instructions:

  1. Install phone drivers
  2. Install msxml.msi
  3. Disable antivirus software
  4. If the file you downloaded ends in KDZ (torrents), skip to step 12
  5. Open UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe
  6. Wait for the program to open
  7. Look for "Encrypt cab file to kdz file"
  8. Click the folder icon
  9. Choose the location of the cab you downloaded for MS770 firmware
  10. Encrypt cab -> kdz Program will freeze up. DO NOT EXIT until program says Done!!! Otherwise it won't finish converting.
  11. Close program
  12. Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
  13. "Type" choose CDMA
  14. Choose in "Phonemode": Emergency
  15. Click the folder icon and choose the kdz file that UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe just made.
  16. Click Launch software update and enjoy!

If you are stuck in a bootloop, do this (it will factory reset by following this):

Phones don't fix themselves.
Please donate.
It would be grate if you loaded some pics or even better a video. It took me a few times, but I got it to work.It would get through the process then exit Download mode.It appeared like it didn't do anything so after 3 times I ran a root checker, and I didn't have Root Access. So I did a hard reset and it worked. Thanks Sammy

i just want to know if i can still transfer all of my internal data in my phone onto my pc, cuz i got 6gigs worth of data and i don't really have time to unbrick my phone, thus, i don't really care to hard reset my phone... -_-"

Oh OK I see what your saying... Unfortunately no you won't be able to if the phone is bricked. The internal storage of the device is partitioned kinda like a hard disk. The OS is stored on one partition, and the data on another partition and if you can't power on the device or boot to recovery then there's no way to retrieve/extract that data. Once it's unbricked there's a chance that it might still be there though.

Yeah the only way for you to retrieve that data is to unbrick the device. Once you unbrick it just don't factory reset it, otherwise it will erase all the data on the internal storage.
just another quick question, if you factory reset your phone, does it un-root your phone, or do you have to flash it or something to un-root it? ( i just don't want to ecounter this problem later on)

Performing a factory reset only wipes data from carrier/customer partitions, and only from what already exists in those partitions. You lose root when firmware is replaced, such as a manual flash or an OTA update.

the thing about the lg motion
the internal sd card is not its own partition
it actually exists in the data partition

A factory reset wipes the data partition
which is where all internal sd stuff is
