Root [International] DjeMBeY ROM's i9505 - Dummies Guide

Legitimate compliment old bean! ;)

To be fair... I had already been through this with Richie101 in post #219...

OK Richie101... One last time!

The, "Pre-Rooted STOCK FW - Odex - KNOX 0x1", ROMs that are flashed via Odin, have the new bootloader and the Knox security flag will be tripped. See, #2.0

The, "GT-I9505 Modified & Stock ROMs - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP:", ROMs flashed via custom Recovery, do not have the new bootloader and Knox is removed. See, #2.10.

So, if Wi-Fi now working on Echoe kit Kat with old boatloader if you flash anthrax kernel, dies that mean the same for djembey kit Kat?? Think I may give it a try later.....

DjeMBey's CWM flashable KitKat ROM is on the original NA1 leak as opposed to Echoe who are on the later, NA5.

Need more coffee!

XXUFNC9-DeOdex-SuperSlim-CWM is up, along with a full odexed version

Curse you Hawker!

You knew I wouldn't be able to resist. ;)

I had been on the Echoe Google Edition v2.2 ROM for 4 months.

Everything seems OK so far. Good signal and Wi-Fi is working on my old, non Knox'd bootloader. Did a wipe to install a new ROM in PhilZ and am busy resetting up.

I'm getting very fuzzy scrolling with this.
Going to see if kt improves matters but the last time I saw this it required a firmware update

You buggers. I was supposed to be doing some work today!

Why break the habit of a lifetime by working, Syd!

On GT-I9505 Modified Stock ROM - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP: XXUFNC9

Looks as though DjeMBeY has cracked the problem of Wi-Fi and sound on the old bootloaders. Am using the latest KT TW, 04.07.2014, kernel with no build.prop messing around.

TouchWiz takes some getting used to after 4 months on the Echoe v2.2, Google Edition, ROM.

So far, everything seems tickety boo. ;)

Any joy with kt?

No fuzzy scrolling here, gonna stick with Adam for a few days then compare to kt.

Have also ditched gravity box and gone back to wanam xposed....less options on this and I think gravity box is now better, but need wanam coz there's no exchange security bypass for tw that I can find in the list of downloadable modules :(

Weird going back to tw, miss some of the features of the ge rom, but equally great to get some features back eg a decent camera!!

Latest KT, 04.07.2014, is fine and dandy for me Syd. I wanted those KTweaker options.

Don't mention the fuzzy scrolling near Hawker! :argh:

So, did you try GravityBox, at least? I can't do without my big battery saving, Smart Radio.

Yes, it is weird. After disabling some of the stuff that I don't use, or want, on DjeMBeY's Super Slim ROM... it's like being back on Echoe GE v2.2 with prettier icons and different menu's.

Still very grainy text during scrolling on latest KT kernel.

So is one of you going to tell me how the hell you get gravity box working on this TW ROM where gravity box is an aosp-based only app?

I'm back on my favourite ROM now, danvdh ge ROM where my scrolling is smoother than Jane torville's ice box and gravity box works on the platform for which it is intended.

We could... but our sacred Android Jedhi oath means that we would have to kill you straight after... unless you bought us a round of drinks. I'm guessing that you would consider the former option preferable. :listen:

It seems that the fuzzy grainy text during scrolling for me is related to screen brightness. If I bump up the brightness, then it looks a bit better (but still not as smooth as Danvdh though)

Giving this another pop as curiosity burns even deeper than my pockets, but it's gonna take a lot to get me off Dan's ROM.

I'm downloading EchoE v20 to have a snout around the aroma installer. Might just lift off the S5 launcher/widgets onto this ROM to see how it looks.

By the way, has anyone seen a link for the NC9 bootloader only?

Nope, works fine on old boatloader.

It's pretty good. Seems very kind on battery. But not as smooth as the ge rom I've been on. Stuck with it a few days then stuffed back. Good though, if you're r on old boatloader and want a touch wiz rom

Got to agree with Syd :s:

DjeMBeY's NC9 release is very good and no problems on the old, unlocked and non Knox'd, bootloader. Great if you want the latest TouchWiz experience with the Samsung camera and all the gestures, icons and UI. However, like Syd, I'm a back to basics guy and the lure of the unadorned Google Edition ROMs, without all the frills and fripperies, drew me back again. Cant beat them for speed and maneuverability. ;)
