Google Play edition of Moto G released

Got the 16 GB version on the way. I was in no way looking for a phone ATM,as I've had my LG G2 for less than a month (great phone, definitely a keeper,BTW).

However, being able to pick-up a GPE device for $200,it was too good to pass up.

Will use as a back-up device/mini-tablet after hours/at home while the G2 is on the charger late at night.

Kind of silly if you ask me. Motorola is already a Google company, and it's already practically a pure Android phone. But then again, its close to(if not, the same) price for the GPE, so if I didn't already have one, I'd probably get the GPE.

I've been wondering which motorola apps I can disable.
I don't quite get it either. Google is competing with itself now. The prices are about the same as Motorola. This is how these large companies play games with people!

sfbloodbrother, I think Boost is cdma network bands and these phones are gsm.

Thanks. And I don't think it's too bad that they are competing. Google is still selling Motorola and when they sell it, google play edition or not Motorola still sells

Verizon is cdma but I'm not sure if they have a 16gb version. Why not just buy the gsm version and use tmobile or at&t, and others?

In your sig, it show you have a moto g, I guess it's the gsm, well never mind!

Well I don't have it yet, but I was planning on getting it. I want it on boost mobile because with T-Mobile, I would be paying $60 + all the taxes. a month or something crazy like that.

You and I = same boat. :)
If I ever need to try a GSM network, I may activate mine, but as of now, it's simply a media player at work. Really love the phone too!

To be honest. I don't think there is a 16 GB CDMA Moto G. I don't want to settle with only 5 GB for my phone. I'll probably have to reconsider buying a phone. Maybe to something like the Galaxy S 3 or 4 if it comes to Boost Mobile.

They're trying to get people to utilize cloud storage. Anybody who buys a Moto G gets a crazy amount of free storage on Google Drive. There's also Dropbox and other cloud services.

But, some people aren't on an unlimited data plan, so it kind of sucks. But this is a great phone, so I just put all my music onto my Nexus 7 since I bring that with me everywhere anyways.

I think I could live with 8gb as well; I don't have a lot off data needs. All my music is in the Google Play Music, and so I can stream if I need to. But I don't often since I just listen to the radio when I'm in the car any way. I don't have movies; I steam from Amazon Prime on my desk computer and Verizon fios. My apps currently on my LG Motion only take up about 2 gig.

I'm a huge user of the cloud. One question so I don't have to start a thread.

When I take a picture and record a video and have it backed up to Google plus. Is that picture or video saved to the device as well as the phone?
Can I remove it from the phone and still have it on google plus?

One day/overnight shipping added only $6-$8 to the grand total. Glad I opted for it, as the phone arrived @ noon, approx. 18 hrs after ordering.

Very nice phone, beautiful screen /responsive, even after loading up w/apps, music, email access, etc....

I'd recommend it to just about anyone, can't beat the overall value......

It will be backed up to G+ and saved to the phone, but you can delete it off the phone and it'll still be on G+.
When you get your Moto G, you get 50Gb of free storage on Drive as well. Between it and my Chromebook, I now have 150Gb of Drive storage. :)

Could you post a thread on XDA - Developers to see if you can help port the gpe awesomeness to the og moto g?

I may keep buying Chromebooks every 2 years just to have an upgrade and keep getting extra storage. Hopefully Google will continue to do that.
