Hello everybody! I recently upgraded my old Skyrocket to the Note 3...and I couldn't be happier with the big jump in quality. That being said, I have 4 apps on my old phone that I can't figure out how to transfer for the life of me.

My old phone is the AT&T Skyrocket which is rooted (I'm not sure which root...my brother did it for me), but runs stock 4.1.2 using Go Launcher.

My new phone is the AT&T Note 3 and is completely running on stock 4.3.

I did some research and everybody was swearing by MyBackup Pro when it comes to migrating apps. I had not seen any issues and everybody said that it'll transfer over all apps I choose through wi-fi. So I bought the pro version and installed it on both of my phones.

When I choose Migrate on my old phone, only half of my apps are popping up. For one, all the apps with Japanese characters in them are not being shown and there are some that are normal apps that aren't even displaying. The 4 apps I want to transfer are not available on the App store anymore and are Apps with Japanese characters in them. I paid for these apps and I definitely don't want to lose any of them just because of this digital rights nonsense (this is why I don't like digital purchases...but that's a whole other issue).

Interestingly, some of my other Japanese apps I have on my phone (old) are not displaying either, and these ones ARE on the app store and I actually already have them installed on my new phone...yet MyBackup Pro doesn't detect them either.

As a couple of headsup points:

- both phones have ALL apps installed on the phone and not on an SD card
- my older phone does NOT have an SD card in it (if that matters)

I hope I have given ample information to acquire assistance with. Thank you very much for your time, and I shall patiently await an answer.

You can try Helium - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en

The rooted device will be able to create backups right away, the new device that is not rooted will need to be temporarily connected to a computer so Helium Desktop can enable app data backups and restore.

Helium Desktop - ClockworkMod Carbon

Be sure to trigger the app + app data backup option for the apps you know are no longer available. That options saves the actual app APK as well as the app data to restore.

Another option is Titanium Backup - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en

The issue with Titanium is it requires both devices to be rooted but nothing says you cant use Titanium to save the apps and data you cant get anymore safely off the rooted device now and figure out how to restore it later.

Be 100 percent sure you have viable backups by going through at least one restore cycle before you erase or nuke the data off the original device.

I thank you guys so much for the input. I am e-mailing the developers tonight for more clarification. That being said, I will look into the recommendations made here as well. Now WoohooGuy, when you say restore cycle, do you mean that I should back everything up and then restore another phone and test the apps on there BEFORE wiping the original phone? That's what I'm assuming, which makes sense...but just for clarification. Thanks again guys!

Yes, test your backups on another device if possible before deleting anything on the original to make sure the backup is valid.

Another option for you is to make a nandroid of the rooted device, if you decide to root your new Note 3 there are plenty of apps available you can try that extract specific data from nandroids created by CWM or TWRP recovery.

Hey Bowser05, I just saw this thread, and hope I can help.

I've been using MyBackupPro for years, first intalled on my Droid 1 way back in Nov 09. I have used it to backup and restore apps on three devices so far, but I must say that I never noticed the "Migrate" option until reading this thread.

Anyways, I doubt that having or not having root is the problem. How I have done it is the 'old-fashioned' way. I'll find the apps backup on the old device, usually here:

Code:
/sdcard[or whatever, could be/storage, etc.]/rerware/MyBackup/AllAppsBackups

copy it to my pc, then copy it to the new device in the same location. It sometimes can help to just go ahead and create an apps backup with MyBackupPro on the new device so it will create the folder(s) first just in case.

One last note, I don't bother with the .apks and data option with either backup or restore as there could be potential problems with attempting the restore of the apps data from one device to the next.

Hope this help!

good luck
