Root [Sprint] root note 2 without CWM need help please

hello all,

i have just upgraded myself to a note 2, from an S2.

on my S2, i was able to root and unroot, with just 2 zip files, and i installed them from stock recovery mode. they were these:

Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip
Unroot_SuperUser-Busybox-Uninstaller-Update2-signed.zip

i have researched and found many sites telling me to root my Note 2 with CF AutoRoot and a custom recovery, like CWM.

i don't want to do that, i don't want to void my warranty either. all i want to do is the exact same root and unroot process that i did with my S2, on my new Note 2 via the stock recovery > installing update from external storage > select the zip file and it installs superSU and roots the phone.

obviously as you all may have gathered by now, i tried the current file i have and it doesnt work. it comes up with 3 lines of red text displaying something like "error validating" and then it auto reboots the phone back to the home screen.

i tried version 1.25, and that also didnt work. so... is there a version of the root_superSU zip file that i can download that DOES work in the same way as i rooted with my S2?

all i want is a root, i don't want a custom recovery, i dont want a custom firmware flashed, all i want is the superSU / root.

could someone please advise me if this is possible, or... is there a better or more modern / updated way of doing this on a Note 2 STILL without putting a custom recovery on there?

Rooting your phone voids the warranty, so you're going to have to choose which way you want to void the warranty, or you're going to have to not root the phone.

Kingo would probably do it, but again - rooting by ANY means voids your warranty. Depending on who is evaluating your phone, just the presence of su on the phone might void it.

thanks for the replies all. i subbed to the thread but never got an email... wierd. that's why i didn't notice anything until now.

anyways, i have managed to do it now but not in the way i had hoped.

not sure if this applies to all note 2s, but mine being SIM free, after the OTA update to 4.3 JB, i had this security feature on the phone called KNOX.

i found out online researching that the only way i could remove KNOX was via this zip install file i found, much like root_supersu.zip files, but it cannot be installed via the stock recovery.

so i came across a custom recovery called TEAMWIN. i had to flash that recovery console, and use both the root zip file and the knox removal zip file and then i was finally with a working root that didnt have popup messages of KNOX telling me about my phone being accessed in an unsafe way and superSU failing / stopped working messages.

i didn't want to flash a custom recovery to get it done, but from what i read, that was the only way.

shame i didnt see this earlier i would have tried that toolkit from skip.

hope this helps someone else looking into how to get it done.
