Heya guys

Ya know how our g2's tend to charge a bit faster than most phones?

I typically could get it from 0 to 100 in a matter of 2 hours if that. But here lately it's began to charge a lot slower. I've only had my g2 around a month or so.

Anyone else experience slow charging after a bit?

I'm rooted running dirty unicorns, not sure if that matters or not.

Using the stock charger that came with it as well.

Can't be my rom either as it still charged at the normal rate 2 days after flashing DU.

Only thing that comes to mind is when I had to use a Sammy charger once when I didn't have my LG charger handy.

0 to 100 (I assume percent) in 2 hours or less isn't realistic in a phone. Your phone probably wasn't calibrated at first, and now it's coming closer to reality. (You didn't calibrate it when you got it, did you?)

Assuming a 900ma charge (the phone probably isn't designed to accept more than that - regardless of how many Amps the charger is capable of putting out), would be 3-1/3 hours for a complete charge, assuming 100% conversion efficiency in the battery. (And if you have one that has 100% efficiency, I know a few companies that would buy you almost anything you want in exchange for it. "Almost" would probably include your own jetliner and crew.) You're probably talking about somehing like 3-1/2 hours from the time the phone shuts off (which is nowhere near 0% charge - charging a flat LiIon battery leads to nasty things - like fires and explosions) to the time it tells you to disconnect the charger. (The moment it shows 100% charge, it's not fully charged yet.)

And for maximum battery life (which you definitely want in a phone that doesn't have an easily replaced battery), charge the battery when it's down to about 50%.

If it starts taking longer than 3 hours from 50% to fully charged, that's when you have something to worry about.

If you actually did your research before replying to this thread, you'd realize that the LG G2 actually charges rather fast.

As well if you did your research, you'd know the g2 has a non remove able battery which means I can't swap out batteries.

And yup I calibrated it.

From my short research as well, the g2 charges at 1.5a with our 2a charger.

0-100 in about 2 hours isn't unreasonable for this phone.

I missed your last post. Yes I'm using the stock charger that came with the phone.

Both the charger and the cable? I have those flat cables that I prefer to use but with the charger that came with my LG G2, I notice that it won't charge as fast. This isn't a problem because I usually charge overnight but if I need a quick charge i'll use the stock cable.

Interesting.

If the root cause is your outlet or your power strip, then you may have SERIOUS wiring issues where you are doing your charging, perhaps a intermittent connection and resistive heating because of a poor connection somewhere in the wiring to the outlet or in the power strip.

When there is very little surface area in contact between a wire and an outlet / receptacle, there will be arcing and resistive heating, which could lead to fire. There will also be a voltage drop.

When ever you are wiring a home for example or replacing an outlet in your home, avoid the use of the "stabs" (holes) on the back of an AC receptacle to make a quick connection. Opt instead to use the screws on the side of the receptacle to make the electrical connection with the wire.

If you ever smell ozone for example, or you see light dimming on a circuit, that is a sign that a run from your fuse/circuit breaker box to the thing consuming power is being challenged to handle the current flowing. A bad sign.

I'm glad you have resolved your issue, (I'm thinking maybe the Nandroid restoration helped, and I wager, some app was draining power while you were charging: your observed behavior was it was charging slowly - and I suspect you may possibly experience the behavior again).

However, If the real issue is the outlet or an electrical strip you're using for something else, I'd dig a little deeper and until you do, avoid using them or keep an eye on them at least.

Your charger and cable didn't "reset" just because you used a different outlet...

For the outlet or the strip to be culprit, like I said, you should be suspicious of their continued use.

Yes this phone will charge that fast. I have one. I know :p

My guess is a bad charger.

I have a Nexus 4... charged fast then would charge 10% per hour.

They replaced charger (along with phone) and all's well. There was quote a few people that had the issue on the forums with the charger.

Been lucky with this charger on the G2 but haven't been impressed in the past to say they make quality chargers.

I noticed sometimes my battery charges really fast like that and other times it drags. Could there be things going on in the background that is running down the battery or straining battery even while it's trying to charge?

Absolutely, especially apps akin to OPEN-MIC (alternative to MOTOROLA's Touch less Controls). Very cool app,w/o a doubt, however, charge time & battery life take a small hit w/such always-on apps.

Heat causes a slower charge mA, as well as top and bitten end of charge. Drainage with running apps will indeed also reduce charging mA. 1:45 0-100 is average. After months of use, I still average that.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Found this to be true w/the QI Receiver tags as well. The 750mA one I have works well.
Just recently got a pair of back-up/extra pads rated @500mA & they are useless;charging slow, which in turn causes a sizeable heat increase, which further slows the charging cycle:Lather-Rinse-Repeat..........;)
