Finally back to Android - need a good shopping list app!

I use a "Persistant list" in an app called Note Everything. It has a master list "All" where you select the items you need to buy. Then those items are listed in a "Need" list. When I buy an item, I click it in the "Need" list, and it goes to a 3rd list called "Done". Fast, easy, simple and neat. Gife it a try, I think you'll like it.

My wife and I use Our Groceries. Nice thing about this is you can link two phones to one list.

To be honest I really don't know. It could be that the free version doesn't have the persistent list option.

Me and my wife use "Out of Milk". You can access the list thru the internet and can sync list to other devices. (In real time). I will admit, that it took me some time to get my list how I wanted them and learn all the features. Once I did, I'm loving it and its made my life of shopping so much easier and fun.

This. Best app ever. We use this and it syncs between our phones. If he's making lunch and we run out of Peanut Butter, he adds it to Our Groceries and it updates on my phone as well. This way we both have the same list. It even has a recipe list.

We use it for other lists as well, such as a ToDo list before vacation to make sure we both have everything packed, he uses it as a list of things he needs for the car he is rebuilding. So many different types of lists you can build and keep synced. Even if you don't have a significant other to share lists with, it's great for using on all of your own personal devices.

Grocery IQ. Love it. Syncs between phones seamlessly. My wife uses it on her iPhone and me on my Note 3 and iPad 3. You can also use a browser interface. Tracks history, prices and has an excellent bar code reader for fast entry of items.

I use Wunderlist. There is a free version (no ads) and a paid version. The best thing about it is that this is a multi-platform app. I have it installed on my Windows laptop, Mac laptop, iPad, and Android phone and it syncs across all OS using Wi-Fi or data. The software also allows you to set due dates and times and will also set off alarms and sends alerts via email.

I researched a bunch of these apps and found Our Groceries (which is free) to be best. It's one of my favorite, most-used apps.

Our Groceries lets you create multiple, re-usable shopping lists, To-Do lists, packing lists, etc., that can be shared among your phones, PCs, etc., and are real-time synchronized through the cloud. My wife and I share an account on our phones and PCs so whoever is at the store has the up-to-date shopping list (for Costco, or Home Depot, or the auto parts store, etc.) Or if we're packing to go skiing, we instantly know who has already packed what.

Things we love & additional uses:
1) Since my wife & I share an account, and crossed-off items are instantly synced, we can save time by simultaneously shopping at the same store from opposite ends (meeting in the middle).

2) Easy PC/Mac editing on the OurGroceries website. We keep an "Our Grocereies" shortcut on our PC's desktops/taskbar and we set it to login automatically so that you can add/delete items within a few seconds from the PC-- which then sync instantly.

3) It's great for packing lists & To-Do lists (though that wasn't likely the intended use).

4) Crossed-off items remain visible (in a strike-through font) at the bottom of your list and can be restored to the list by simply clicking on them. So for example, you don't have to re-type "milk" or "haircut", or remember your inkjet cartridge part #, or re-look-up your car's oil filter part #.

5) "Best Price" list: We keep a list (not really a shopping list) of benchmark prices so that we know, for example, when we go into our local grocery store, if their sale price on item X is as good as the normal price at Costco. Such "Best Price" items are automatically sorted alphabetically, and might include an item like, "Margarine, Canola Harvest tub, 1lb, $2.79. ($2.79/lb)- Costco." If you create such a list or include the standard pricing like the example above, then when you add items to a different list, after typing a few letters, the matching "Best Price" item appears as a quick-auto-text drop-down menu that you can select. So instead of just having "margarine" on the list, you can have the benchmark pricing details like mentioned above. That's nice in this situation: You have a Costco list and a Walmart list. You're at Walmart and you've completed your Walmart shopping list, but you check your Costco list to see if there's an item that you might want to get at Walmart-- if the price were similar. Without having to back out to the "Best Price" list to see the price for each item, you can see the benchmark prices inside the Costco list.

6) You can email lists, just in case you need a paper copy or want to share a list with someone.

7) On the PC/Mac, you can copy & paste text from existing text-based lists, like a Word document. (Just use the "import" blank field).

8) Items can be added by voice-to-text on the Android app.

I recommend choosing the option to "long-press" items to cross them off the list, otherwise you can accidentally cross them off the list.
