[App help] Play store problem

My new to me one max will not connect to the play store, it just stays at the log in page with the circle spinning in the centre. I have even tried making a new account but with he same results, any ideas.
All of the other google stuff is working fine.

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Play Store? Or clear data from the app in question.

--- And are sure you have a steady internet connection? Intermittent and/or slow internet connection can also be the culprit in this happening.

I am tethering from another phone so maybe the internet signal isn't great then. Other than that how do you uninstall the play store as in my settings-apps the uninstall option isn't available.

verify the app can connect through wifi. if other google services work fine, it maybe something with the app itself.
