so i bought this phone broken off ebay for 6$ free shipping (i can always part it out lol).it doesn't turn on and wont charge,i know everyone has issues with the battery dying and having to charge it externally, which i did and it still doesn't want to charge.i jumped the battery with another battery and got it to 3.7 volts and still nothing, not even the charge light turns on.iv dry run the phone a few times to get all the power out of the capacitors and stuff and still nothing.charge port is intact as well........ oh hmm as im typing this its plugged into the pc via usb a few min and it just said unknown usb device.maybe there's hope after all.

damn still nothing

The Foxconn made Triumph is certainly a piece of work; although work is probably substituted for another four letter word by those who have had nothing but problems with it.

It could be "he's dead Jim" or maybe .....

Take a zip lock bag... put the triumph in it minus the battery....seal it up and put it in the refrigerator.... Pull it out after it gets cold and try to do it so when you open the bag it doesn't have condensation on it and place the battery in.... Hold down the power button for at least 5 seconds...

Repeat it if it doesn't work.... it may never work but if there is an overheat circuit in the phone it may release from the process but don't hold your breath... You can also then try and plug in a charger of 1-2 amps instead of the 500ma of a USB port....Just make sure the voltage is correct and good luck...

just tried that, nothing worked...i do belive its a "hes dead jim" moment.....well glad i got it for 6$ on ebay lmaooo will buy another cheap 1 that works but has a broken screen and swop them out.

Yeah, It's probably dead although at 3.7 volts the battery may not have enough reserve to start the phone... Even a new Triumph will not start up if the battery circuit has a short or if there isn't a good battery in there...

I just bought an oem new battery a few weeks ago and it arrived doa....I took the back cover off the phone and got the phone charging with the old battery and with it still charging, I poppped out the old battery and put the new battery in and it got the chip inside working and charging.... This oem battery is still not great, but it works normally.... If the chip inside the battery is completely dead, your phone won't work so try this as a last resort...

well i tried hot wiring a diffrent battery that wasnt for the triumph but has the same voltage and mah and that didnt do anything either.i was thinking bout buying a new battery but i dont wana wast my money of its not the issue....few questions tho.do i need the back cover on for it to turn on? it came with no cover and there small pins that look like they should be connected via back cover.also would it turn on if i had the battery out but the charger in?...im just trying to figure out if its a hardware issue or a software issue.

Some of the contacts are for locking the back cover on and others are probably to pull in more signal (antenna)... The phone works without it but the battery may fall out or there might be a little less signal... While the battery might be the non start culprit, it is probably a dead phone. Some of these phones have been reported to die suddenly. it would be interesting to find out how many were sold vs no longer working. If you get one to work and need to activate it with Virgin....you must have the stock rom running to do this....Then root, re-root and put on any of the five star roms found in this forum....titianium backup will save an entire rom and all your apps and allows you to go back and forth between roms as long as you follow the directions and do factory resets and wipe Dalvik cache... Just make sure any one you get has a clear mei for activation...If you go thru the forums, just about everything has been covered including this... If you don't need HDMI, the 2.3.7 five star roms all rock and BSydz and a few developers are still around, just most are now on later. After activation get rid of the stock 2.2.2 froyo rom but make a backup first. The stock rom was pretty glitchy by any comparisons
