Root [ROM][BETA][4.2.2] AOKP Jelly Bean for Virgin Mobile and Sprint 5/2/2014

Hey Phenom,

I was trying out the Straight Talk Bring Your Own Phone plan and supposedly the OE is compatible. I purchased everything, and the website says "Activation in Progress". It's been like that all night, and I've heard a little bit of everything from Tech Support, but nothing helpful. I was curious if you had any idea or thought that maybe this ROM "locked" the phone to Virgin?

You should go back to stock to activate and then go back to a custom rom if you wish.

Yeah a fix is coming.

For the usb mass storage issue as well? :D

Also, the swype feature on my keyboard doesnt work. i used the minimal gapps because i do not want any of the extra apps the sylinked has, but i would like to know how i could fix the keyboard please. google keyboard kinda lags on my phone a little so i would rather not use it. Thanks!

Unfortunately AOKP 4.2.2 has slowed to a crawl. It's something I've experienced with some of the other ROMS except for AOKP 4.1.2. I had to switch back to stock it got so bad. I checked for a daily reboot in the performance tab but I'm not sure this build has been equipped with that option. Even after a manual reboot and clearing Cache and Dalvik and fixing permissions I still see considerable lag. At worst a five to ten second delay between when I push a button and the phone responds. AOKP 4.1.2 seemed not to suffer from lag but I was having issues with data connection failing so I had to switch back to stock there as well. Can anyone tell me if ROMS should be expected to lag when run on older single processor phones. I'm so frustrated because this latest build from Phenomx4 is equipped with so many excellent features and stock Gingerbread is failing with some Apps now :(

It shouldn't lag. If you don't have enough free RAM then it will lag whenever something tries to run. An app like Greenify can help if you have a lot of junko apps running in the background. Zram and the other memory management options help too.

It can also lag if your internal storage is mostly used up.

Stay away from the ondemand governor. My phone lags when I use it.

Dark One thanks for the tips. Luckily I made a backup of 4.2.2 before flashing back to stock so I may restore that and try some of your suggestions. Gingerbread is so fast and reliable and I'm hoping to avoid having to buy a new phone to achieve a comparable level of reliability with Jelly Bean and eventually KitKat

I'm back guys. Just a heads up, don't do business with StraightTalk, especially their BYOP program. I got ripped out of $60 bucks that's "nonrefundable" and never even got my phone activated on their network. A complete waste of time to go back to stock, and 2 days to wrestle with customer service.

On the plus side, I get to reroot and reflash this great ROM instead of staying with Gingerbread. :)

lol, yeah, I knew that, but my girlfriend has never had issues with them (although she bought a native ST phone), and so I was being hopeful. They just have much better service in most of the areas I need it, and I don't want to pay 300 bucks for a reasonable phone on their service, so I decided to try the BYOP. Never again will I do business with them. Virgin Mobile is cheaper, more flexible in most ways, and has MUCH better customer service.

maybe its some sort of bug? i cannot get my calendar to sync. in its settings it shows my account listed, but under accounts to sync, there is nothing. and i cannot figure out how to add my account to it.

It is checked to auto-sync. Went I click "accounts" in the contacts app I only get my facebook account displayed. Shouldn't it have my Google account as well?

When I go to Accounts->Google->my account I see "People details." Its checked. I tried unchecking and checking it again but it doesn't help.

If I open the People app and click the add button it displays "Your new contact won't be backed up. Add an account that backs up contacts online?"

It then goes to set up an Exchange account. I tried entering my gamil info but it just gives an error.

I reinstalled everything and it still will not sync contacts. I don't even have an option for it in the setting. No accounts are displayed under the "People" app.

I deleted the contacts data - it didn't help. I removed my account and added it again - didn't help.

I have to go back to 4.1 because I can't really use my phone without any working contacts.

If you are having issues with sync, try flashing GAPPS. That worked for me on a previous build.

I have found that it is the ContactsProvider.apk that is giving me the acore crashes. I can use the 4.2.2 Contacts.apk but as soon as I install ContactsProvider.apk 4.2.2 the crashes happen again. Regardless, contacts still crashes every time I click the phone app. Probably my fault due to dirty flash... :/

Roothelper's onto something there. I had the same problem (with the contacts/people app) when I flashed the new build. I did a factory reset, data wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, and then reflashed the symlinked gapps, then the minimal gapps. Most of that is probably unnecessary, but it solved the issue for me. I'm sensing that dirty upgrade flashes are causing a lot of problems, even though coming from other AOKP JB builds probably shouldn't be an issue.

While there are minor cosmetic changes there are major changes in the code which is why you'll have problems without wiping first.
