Root Followed rooting instructions, however, it did not work

Hello friends. I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. And I desperately want to root it. My brother who has the same tablet used these instructions, and they worked fine for him.How to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 GT-P5210

When I was done with the instructions, and looked for the App that it said should be seen, it is not anywhere. The app is called SuperSU.

Also, I did download the app called Root Checker, and it says "You do not have proper root access."

So, I am wondering if I should just try and follow the instructions again and try it all over again? Or can someone provide a different set of instructions?

I would appreciate it very very much.

I am posting an update already. It seems my first try was somehow just... done wrong or something. I tried again. And I now have the App SuperUser, and the Root Checker says I have Root Access.

So it seems it was a mistake on my part.

I just bought the tab 3 and when I try to flash the recovery using odin I keep getting fail??? I have rooted many phones and never had a problem with odin before, I extracted file til I got the recovery tar file, and using odin 3.07 or what ever # I even tried 1.85 version .I select pda then start, any ideas really wanna root thanks. Got it figured out.iam rooted
