Root [Virgin Mobile] MidnightRom:GS3 4.3 1.0. 12/17/2013 Supercharged stock

Does anyone know how to change the lock screen wallpaper to a wallpaper of pur own choosing? The only options I have are to use the stock Samsung ones or the live wallpapers neither of which I want.

I discovered on the MG2 build that when the stock Gallery app is removed it also takes away the ability to change the lockscreen wallpaper (aside from third party options I am not specifically aware of). It might be the same issue here because I understand the stock Gallery app is removed on this rom.

I flashed this rom last night and the only issue I had was that I lost root so I restored my 4.1 version for now. Before going back to my 4.1, I made a backup of this 4.3 rom. I tried restoring my bu of this rom to do what you suggested so I can get root back but now, after restoring, it gets caught in a bootloop (with the four circles), it won't go past this, I have even let it sit for a half hour and I come back and its still on that same screen. The only way to get out was to do a battery pull and get into recovery by vol up, power and menu. Got back into recovery and this time did a factory reset and still the same thing happened. I even tried a third time and again, the same thing happened. I have backed up and restored numerous times without issue on other roms. I am using TWRP 2.6.3.0 and I checked and I am on the latest version. I don't know what else to do??

Ok, I have a update. I figured I would try Philz Touch recovery, after making a backup of this rom, I restored back to my 4.1 rom, then tried to restore my 4.3 backup and it did work. Must be something with twrp. Also, I had noted that the first time I flashed this rom that I lost root. I flashed the zip that xthedakmanx gave me (su binary) and now I have root, thanks.
Also, does this rom have the halo program, I would like to use it if at all possible. If it is, where do I find it, I've been searching but cannot find.

Halo came from Paranoid Andriod (someone correct me if I am wrong). It has been co-opted into a few other custom ROMs, but I don't think it has shown up in any stock ROMs.

There is an Xposed module that will give you the next best thing (I hear it is a very close match) when used in conjunction with a specific app from the Play Store. XHaloFloatingWindow is the module and Floating Notifications is the app. Otherwise, pretty sure you will not see Halo on anything based on TouchWiz/stock.

Odd.
Try installing SuperSU after the rom install and see what happens
SuperSU Download

If that doesn't work, a post on xda said to "go to settings/Developer options/root access tick Apps and ADB. reboot"

Anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: Yes, had this problem and flashing Super SU fixed it but only after downloading Super SU from Play as well.

I also request that Gallery and Samsung Keyboard be returned.

I was coming from 4.3 MK5 Stock Deodexed Rom over on xda-developers and I too also experienced the Super user problem. I'll probably try that fix this weekend when I'm free.

Also, if you guys wanted more notification toggles (such as the 3G toggle) for the notification just flash this.

And for extended restart menu (Restart,Recovery,Download) flash this.

Also dakman, I was wondering if you still had the Midnight Rom 1.12 zip file for the GS2. I gave my GS2 to my dad when I got my GS3 and needed reset the rom but I didn't have the 1.12 zip.

I like this rom but I've noticed that when people call me and the other person picks up, that it takes 3 or 4 seconds before I hear them and they hear me. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also, how do I get the gallery back?

I am having this same issue, with a stock rooted ROM. This has been happening to me for quite some time, even before the update to 4.3. I was beginning to wonder if it was actually MY phone.

That is actually why I was looking around at ROMS, to see if it would make any difference.

When you said not to flash third party kernels, did you mean just with this rom? I've flashed several from xda and my phone is fine.

Pretty sure the ROM developer accidentally flashed a Verizon kernel prior to giving that warning and then realized his issue later. It is in one of his replies in this thread if I recall correctly.

Thanks to everyone along the way for their input. Everything went well.
I also lost root, but used the link, flashed and bam!!
Several have mentioned stock gallery, Samsung keyboard etc.
I've had Titanium backup for years. For the most part I love it.
Thinking out loud here, is there a way for me to "restore missing apps"? Where did my backups go? Could the handful of apps I want be saved somehow, then reinstalled.
I'm thinking of reverting to my Nandroid backup and trying something along these lines.
