not sure if this is really an appropriate thread but I want to know where everyone is planning to go in the coming year? I mean phone wise of course. I would just look around the metropcs thread and see what seems to be the best option or option to-be but i don't really care about the people that frequent that thread. Just care about the ones that are here :)

so you don't mind what are all of your future phone plans? s5, nexus, i don't know.

If nexus 6 is made by htc or sony, I might cop that...but my most wanted phone would be Sony's upcoming z2 with a rumored 2560x1440 screen, 20 mp camera, and snapdragon 800...but then i remember that its going to be about 550 to 600 dollars :/...

well i got this phone a while ago and i certainly remember coughing up exactly $545 for it.

Are those going to be metro phones or are you planning on doing that BYOD?

Byod more than likely since Sony and Google will probably make a universal gsm version...unlocked versions should work with metro now...
The good thing about Sony is that they are way more Dev friendly than most OEMS...

Which is why I'll probably get the international one since it will probably have the LTE bands that we need...you have a z don't you shabby...how are you liking it...

had one, it was alright. couldnt afford the high tmobile monthly payments (was about 74 bucks a month for the cheapest plan and a 10 dollar a month phone. the glass tended to get rather hot playing games in the back near the nfc stuff, but that was more chipset they used vs them.

i just ordered my newest phone, a worthy upgrade from the samsung galaxy nexus i have now to the samsung galaxy light. it has an exynos cpu which i dont like, but for 170 bucks it has lte, quad core and a sdcard slot.

The exynos CPU is harder for root related stuff from what I've heard, correct?...
Personally, I just really don't want a Samsung for my next phone although I love my s3...sonys design for the z1s just looks really nice and the Knox software makes me cautious about buying a Samsung phone again if flash counter can't be reset...

nah, its all ratioed out. the note 2, and international sgs3 had exynos, but compare that to the 18 or so versions of the qualcomm one, more people are likely to own the qualcomm one so thats who people target. its kind of like mac vs pc virus, mac doesnt have as many because less people use them.

the light doesnt have root (which im gunna change come tuesday) but tahts cuz it is security wise patched against all vulns that would affect it, which is a very good thing. knox doesnt bother me as i plan on rooting and hacking my phone regardless, i personally think knox is a great step for samsung. they spend lots of time and money into the whole triangle nonsense and it was bypassed, now with knox samsung can tell when a customer has messed their phone up due to their own fault and charge them accordingly. it means there is less likely to be price hikes in samsungs devices because a couple thousand people brick their phones and get them swapped out at no cost.

Shabbypenguin- the savior of unloved devices!
On a more serious note I can see where you're coming with Knox and I do agree with what you said... what would make me get another Samsung would be a lesser skinned version of touchwiz, as the rumors have said due to Google not being thrilled with the mods they make...

gutta do something to pass the time :p

with root becoming hard or almost impossible on many devices nowadays especially with locked bootloaders on many models it doesnt leave many prepaid (the most unloved devices) for me to help. i told everyone now that metropcs has gsm you wouldnt need people like me, everyone moves on to a very much loved phone :p

Yeah its sad that prepaid is neglected although its starting to change due to T-Mobile switching to off contract phones...I think that we really shouldn't have these on contract phones the rest of the world besides us and Canada don't...

I'm riding out this S3. I use metro because of the good price. Buying a $400+ phone multiple times a year or even every year is not something I want to do. That would negate my cost savings. The main reason is that I don't see a phone yet whose features would drastically improve my experience. Within the past week my service has gone from 5 down / 5 up to 30 down / 20 up. I'll be sticking with this phone and plan until the end of the year.

I've had good experiences with Samsung so my next phone will most likely be Google or Samsung.

that sounds like a plan. I didn't exactly see anything i was dying to get my hands on either but I also don't really look too much into it. Maybe there's something coming out in the near future that has features that I just cannot miss! Not sure tho.

Yeah I'm going to ride it out until October or November but soon the CDMA will shut down...

its 100% plastic. i personally wouldnt want metal sony tried a metal frame on teh z1 and it caused so many radio issues they switched to something else for teh z1s.

I see. Actually watching unpacked now. it looks fine but i wanted metal. just for the premium feel. And i would buy this phone if red was one of the color options. its not lol. I'm picky....

I would have been surprised if it was metal casing that doesn't sound like Samsung at all...between the s5 and the z2, the z2 sounds better...I wonder how the new HTC one is going to be also...

why do you say that? I can't really spot a difference between the two. Both water resistant now. I think that was a huge feature for the z1. But i can't really see a difference.

I would say camera is better with some more features, no touchwiz(Sony's ui doesn't look too shabby), more RAM, and that exquisite design :)...s5 is good too but its just not as premium looking, it has touchwiz and the back of the phone...*shudder*
Again, that is strictly my opinion...s5 is a good piece of hardware nonetheless...
