Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

It's a good thing there weren't convenient cell-phone cameras when I hurt my big toe back in the dawn-times... my sock went from white to completely red in a matter of seconds.

You mean people ask for more than help with their computers :)

We had a relative ask me to help put a hdd in their computer so we told them to come over and ordered a pizza for dinner. The pizza and them arrived about the same time and then I saw it was a packard bell. So while I'm out in the garage drilling and cutting the chassis to hold a standard hdd they ate all the pizza so I didn't get any dinner that night. Finished up and they took their pc and left, didn't offer to pay on the pizza they ate or anything for my time.

Well I had to learn that here.. So many people asking for things, cigs, rides, food, beer.. Ugh! It gets annoying, especially this one, which I may have mentioned before, that will have a lot cig in hand, a pack on the ground, and still asks everyone who walks by for one. I just told her straight, but nice, that I won't be giving anymore out because I just can't afford it, but she asked again yesterday.. Claimed she "forgot." Forgot my aspirin... I couldn't help but go off, and it felt Gooooooood! Lol. Then another lady today asked me for a ride for tomorrow, as she's DRIVING by in her car. Um. Hmm. Eh? NO!

Boy does that sound familiar! I had (notice the past tense) a cousin by law whose computer I probably spent 4 hours setting up, showing him how to use it, setting up a nice "do this, do this" kind of maintenance procedure. I also spent a few hours teaching him how to use a handheld Garmin GPSMap 76CSx for hunting. What'd I get? nada.

Now, I really didn't want anything but what burnt my a$$ was when he wanted to be paid for anything he did for us. Ergo - the had.

I can top that one. There is the legally blind cousin who gets a yearly check on top of the monthly check on top of the housing that Robin Hood provides for him. Each year when he gets that annual check he calls me with the sales papers in hand and asked what I think of xyz computer with this many gigs of space and this and that and every year I tell him it will be way more than what he needs. He then goes out and buys it and plays duke nukem for DOS on it. Way more $ computer than I can afford and has the screen res turned way up. When I was in college I worked for a small PC shop and the .gov would setup different handicapped people with a pc and at home business. For example one guy got the little casette tapes from doctors offices and 'typed' up the notes with dragon dictate because he could not use his arms. I thought to myself many times if you can play duke nukem I'm sure there is something you can do to be productive rather then call me all the time.

I'm not sure what you were trying to do but posting a link should be a simple cut/paste of the url into the box that comes up when you click on the icon that looks like a picture at the top of the post screen.

If you want a link like this: Example link of waving kitty

Then code {url=http://www.yada.yada.yada}link text goes here{/url}

only replace the curly brackets } with standard brackets [

Sowwy. Too easy :rolleyes::D

Played a gig last weekend. Great attendance, but, parking is a pain, like in most capital cities. I had to move to a parking garage, or risk being towed due to a valet service. What a pain. I drove to what I thought was the correct garage, and I ended up exiting a hotel across the street from my gig. Talk about confused internal GPS. Thank goodness the same security company handled all the nearby garages, or I would've been hit with an exorbitant fee (it was free, but the security guy got bribed by a pizza I was supposed to take home - I hope he liked gluten-free). What really grinds my gears? When parking is free after 5 pm, and you have to move your car because of a valet service that was sponsored by a Lexus car dealer... the Focus is definitely not a Lexus, but, why should my parking rights end where a glorified Toyota's begins? Grrrrr...!
