Annoying website memory notifications in Opera

I tried posting yesterday - apparently unsuccessfully - about annoying notifications on my phone about website memory requirements which occurred every time a web page was accessed, starting about 3 days ago. Typical notification "This site requires XX MB of memory on your device. Allow?". This notification might repeat 3 or 4 times in 15 secs, depending on the site, and every time the screen would freeze until the notification was responded to. The site memory requirements were typically much less than 1% of the memory available on my phone. It was really irritating.

I have since discovered that the messages are being generated by Opera Mobile. I have sent them a "bug report", and I hope that they either drop the messages or give you the option in Opera settings to remove them. In the meantime, I have switched to Mozilla for Android which seems better in some ways, less good in others, but certainly a good browser.

Just FYI (and for the information of anyone else who might be interested), the reason you get more than one such notification is that the typical site requires the browser to make more than one request to the site to get the entire page. Maybe not exactly what Tim Berners-Lee had in mind when he invented the web, but that's how it works these days.
