I've a "jump" or "next" like option on my contract and I'm definitely interested after seeing that video.

I love my current handset, but I've always had a soft spot for HTC's.

Looks like he got his parents fired btw.

It's a shame what's happened but I seriously doubt that's gonna have harmed HTC.

Will go as far as saying it's gonna have helped them. Especially if it's true about the SD card slot. With a lot of mixed reactions about the S5 at the minute that video couldn't have come at a better time :thumb:

Lol why didnt cut the parts with his face and imei??
Must have been too excited to get it uploaded :D

At 9 minutes in he gives a nice flash of the IMEI and serial number, before saying "lets cover that up!" and putting his hand over it. So either he didn't grasp the reality of what would happen to his parent(s) if he was caught, or he has yet to hear that video can be paused or rewound.

Lol :D aparently his father has been fired but thats just hearsay, id love to see some kind of follow-up :)
People dont generally just get fired on the spot without some kind of procedure

I've seen people in the company I work for get fired "on the spot" so to speak. Called in for a meeting, 5 minutes later, they're back in with a security guard emptying their desk.

I read some of the Jeff Gordon tweets and he's claimed leaks can be proved to have a financial impact. Also, if his father signed an NDA, breaching it is probably classed as gross misconduct.

I think it's a lot easier to fire people over the pond, so it wouldn't surprise me if it were true.

I just hate not having a definite end to the story lol. I need closure!
Anyone know the dudes youtube/g+ name?

Just Twitter handle for the kid. @roshanjamkatel.

Austin Ouellette on Google+ uploaded the vid on a public cloud drive on his Google + page.
Really want some back ground you can follow Austins tweets with the kid @thegooglefanboy

Alex took the kid to task on twitter and all hell broke loose. Wasn't long before Jeff Gordon jumped in. Couple other tech folks started running IMEI number told the kid where he lived and peole would be stopping
by to retrieve the phone. I was gobsmacked how fast things played out on multiple social sites. Kid totally freaked and was telling lies and busted on everyone. Trainwreck for the kid and his parents.
The kid is already on his Twitter channel posting, my kid be banned for life or until 18.

Every state except Montana allows for at-will employment, which means that you can be let go at any time without an explanation. It can get a little more complicated if they give you a reason why, but if they don't give you anything to contest then you are pretty much powerless to do anything about it.
If this kids father really was fired for having a kid with very poor judgement, I will definitely eliminate HTC phones from my consideration.

Why? It was his parents responsibility to keep the phone secured. If they let it go others could do the same thing, claiming it wasn't their fault someone leaked the information and get a pass on it.

With power (or with a unreleased phone) comes responsibility. If he was that concerned about his kid being an idiot he should have locked the phone up. If I was HTC I would fire him and make sure everyone knows there is no excuse for not keeping track of sensitive hardware.

I hold no ill-will against HTC, this is all on the kid and his parents...I would not want to be that kid :stupid:
