Trusted Sites

I have a really simple question. I have some sites I navigate to that for one reason or another my phone does not like the security certificate, so I have to click that link to trust the site. The problem is that my phone makes me do this every time I navigate to the SAME site, which may be several times a day. I have spent over an hour trying to find the setting in the phone's browser for trusted sites so I can add the site to the list, but I can't find it. Obviously the settings suffer from severe poor organization! If anyone can tell me how to add a site to the list of trusted sites so I don't have to deal with this annoying security message every time, that would be immensely helpful.

(The main site I'm having the problem on is the control panel for my home router. Obviously I don't care about the security certificate for my home router control panel - I just need to get in there and adjust settings and it's really really annoying to have this extra step every time!)

Samsung Galaxy S4, Android 4.3, default browser (app is just called "internet"). I also use the Chrome browser and couldn't figure out how to do it in the Chrome browser either (would like to know), but annoyingly the chrome browser recently started getting a 500 Server error when I try to access the browser settings (it used to work, but not anymore for some reason).

So, yes, setting instructions for the default browser and Chrome would be much appreciated!

Thanks much,
Ben

It's not that easy for reasons of security. Installing certificates from untrusted sites can really cause problems, but here's how you do it ...

First you have to save the certificate as a file. From a desktop (This is for Chrome, but you can use FF or IE, too) go to the secure URL that throws the error. You will see the secure padlock icon with a red "X" in front of the URL in the address bar. Click on it and choose certificate information. From there choose details and you get "save to file" button. Save it as a .cer file and move it to your Phone. The root of the SD card finds it automatically.

Now, before you install it, you must have either a pattern lock or pin lock set for your phone. You cannot install certificates with no lock or a slider. Once you've got that set, then got to menu>settings>security and scroll to "credential storage" and choose "install from storage". Once you install it, you will be able to browse securely to that website.

Be advised, if you want to ever remove the pin or pattern locks, you must clear all credentials first, or those options will be grayed out.
