So what's the deal with this? Got the first part of the install a few days ago, and all I got was a widget that takes me to an "about" type screen. I thought more was supposed to happen on 10/29 (today) but nothing.

So, what's the deal? I'm curious.

From what I've read so far it seems nothing more than Motorola promotional bloat. Looky what we can do, we have great graphics and can even do Pixar-y things. I didn't get the X to watch Pixar movies or Moto commercials or play "Let's Make A Deal" and see what's behind curtain #2.

Just because it's there doesn't mean it actually serves a purpose or is something that I care to see/use. NFL mobile, Verizon tones and navigator are on my phone...and were promptly disabled. I didn't have to try them out to know I didn't want to use them. As far as I can tell (so far) Spotlight is right there with crap I don't want or need.

I'll keep an eye out and re-evaluate but honestly just think I'll never update it and run it. It's entirely possible that some day some app will utilize the technology and will blow my socks off, but not just yet. That's just me though, it does seem like a lot of people are liking it. To each his own.

My Spotlight came to life this morning! The first time I woke up my phone this morning, I had a little red hat floating around on the screen. At first I thought it was an ad from Go (I'm running Go Launcher), but then I realized it looked too good for that. So, I clicked it. Then a little movie started to play. It's about a little mouse who chases this red hat all over the place but you have to move your phone to follow the action. It's pretty much an immersive environment that allows you to "look around" by moving your phone. It doesn't serve any real purpose, but it looks really cool.

Ultimately, it is bloat. But, it's really well done bloat!

Yep now that the cat er um RAT is out of the bag it's cute but nothing life changing. I will let my wife check it out when I get home cause I think she will think it's cute, but I doubt I will be keeping it.

That's like saying you see no reason to have or want what's in a sealed box.

How can any of us want it or not want it until we see what the heck it is? I am just curious as all get out as to what it is/does.

I will decide to keep it or not once I see what's in the box.

That's why i'm a curmudgeon :)

Git yer sealed box off my lawn! ;)

/now im secretly curious what's behind door #3
