Welcome!

I have something great for all of you Nexus 7 2013 owners!

I have been working on my own customized ROM based off of Cyanogenmod for a couple days now and I am really proud of my self

I have started this "project" for a class in my school called TIPS or Technology Innovation Problem Solving. We are doing something called a 20% Project where we choose to do a project on whatever we want 20% of our time in the class.. And I am extremely excited to see how far my project goes. But I need people to help me find problems with my ROM. So I will have you guys test it!

Every time I upload a new version of my ROM I will test it to make sure you guys do not have the risk of bricking your device.

Now lets talk about my ROM..

v1.3.png

Most people that know about custom ROMs know about Cyanogenmod. Well my ROM is based right off of it, but tweaked to be just a little bit better than it already was..

Some things I have done so far.. [NEW IN v1.1 - CUSTOM BOOT ANIMATION.. VIDEO - https://www.dropbox.com/s/6fvpfgsp4s29mcy/Boot%20Animation.mp4 Battery tweaks in build.prop (so you get longer battery life), performance tweaks in build.prop (so you can squeeze the most out of your Nexus 7), custom boot animation (you'll like it :p), deleted some system apps that most people don't use and replaced them with better apps and added some other apps too like Quadrant Standard, Entropy Fixer (google it if you don't know what it is), Google Keep, Chrome Browser, FPS Meter (to track your FPS in games), Startup Manager, (NEWLY ADDED) A Red Theme for this ROM :D, and Battery Widget Reborn. These are very useful apps for everyday use. I also created a custom version of the original Cyanogenmod wallpaper. You will also have the Google Experience Launcher instead of the wanna be Google launcher made by Cyanogenmod :p.

This is the Quadrant Standard score I get with this ROM overclocked @ 1.998GHz using the kernel above.

Have any of you guys had success with this ROM? I know that some of the pre-installed system apps don't work correctly. But I have fixed it and will be uploading a fix to it.

Also I did some performance tests between this ROM and stock and I see better numbers with this ROM than stock. And I had the stock version overclocked to 2 Ghz (1.95 Ghz)!

Also if you have tested this ROM for about a day or so you would know about the amazing battery life! I have many secrets to that :p

I see this project going very far in the future.

Please let me know what you think about this, you guys are my motivation!

Thanks!

Which one did you use? I flash a kernel made for CyanogenMod 11 4.4.2 that I found on xda and it worked but it turned off my WiFi and bluetooth. I couldn't turn them back on. So I had to reflash it (and yes, I had my backup handy so I'm good now). But can you let me know what kernel you used or even better, provide a link? Thank you.

I did a lot of research before I even got my nexus and I found that elementalx kernel is the best. And it has worked for me. But I can't use it now because of my new ROM which is better in performance and battery life than stock android. Anyways. Hope you guys are enjoying this ROM:D Share it with people you know or on Facebook pages to up the views on this post. More views. The more I feel I need to work on it. Again thank you guys:D

one more question, is there an updated gapps that i can use with this rom?

Do not download the new updates as it will not be needed because of the updates I make to the ROM when a stable update like m5 comes out for the device. And you should search on Google for CyanogenMod gapps and it should be the first link. Then download the cm11 gapps. I hope this helped:D

is this kernel modded for your rom? im pretty sure i already tried this kernel and it didnt work properly for me...with your rom. i'll try again and see what happens. let you know.

Elemental has a new version made for cm only. So it should work and I know it does because I have it installed now. Its more stable and faster than ever (my ROM)

i got it to work. and it is pretty fast with your rom. thanks again. but my google accounts arent syncing. does that take time? and one last thing, i'm using TWRP 2.7 and everytime i make a backup i delete the old one and then make a new backup. but for some reason it seems like the old backups arent getting deleted from my device. im just assuming thats whats happening bc everytime i make a backup, i lose a lot of space. the old backup file that i delete from (twrp/backup folder) is gone but my memory is depleting by gigs at a time. i just notice everytime i make a new backup that i lose up to 2 Gb of memory when that shouldnt have bc i delete my old backup first. it should just be replacing the memory that was being used from my old backup and maybe a little more. am i missing something that i should be deleting or what am i doing wrong to be losing so much space when i do this? thanks.

Uhh the Google sync thing can be fixed by installing Google apps again.. Maybe. And the twrp thing.. I'm not sure. It works fine for me. Try deleting them right from your SD card by going into the TWRP folder on your SD card. Hope this helps

Googles fine now. And the twrp thing I'm still working on but I'm good. I had to reflash the kernel a couple times. It was crashing on 1.9 GHz for me. Seems pretty stable so far on 1.836 ghz. Although it restarts my tablet sometimes. I'm gonna give it a day or two to come around. Thanks for the replies and the kernel, though.

I can give you my recommendations on the kernel settings. I usually have the GPU at 531-558. And the CPU at 1.998 GHz. Usually on demand for CPU and GPU seem the best and scheduler as deadline. If you want little gaming boost change your CPU governor to elementalx (will use some battery..)

I also use trickster mod for changing my kernel settings
