Official MetroPCS BYOD discussion thread

They wouldn't let the general public know this cause the towers to be upgraded doing this most of the customers would leave and change service. That's due to the fact that good service before upgrades. During upgrades you would lose service and calls would drop. Second reason would be that they would lose money cause everyone would get refunds for the lost on data . catch my drift.

I see this is becoming very interesting the users can see where the outages are and see if and when services can be fixed. I say this should be a section on this forum.

Are you thinking about a section in this MetroPCS forum for discussing Metro outages and tower upgrades, or a separate subforum to discuss all carrier outages/upgrades?

For Metro outages and tower upgrades I could look into making a sticky post here if there is interest.

For a separate forum discussing all carriers you can make a suggestion here:

I would think a joint T-Mobile/MetroPCS section would be good, particularly since many of the upgrades/outages will be to upgrade existing Metro CDMA sites to add compatibility to T-Mobile's network.

sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to ask this but I haven't followed metropcs's BYOD at all! And i was wondering how would i go about buying a phone and making it so it would work for metro? I'm looking specifically into the Xperia Z2

Step one wait until z2 comes out then buy the model that works here in the us the Canadian model most likely step two buy a metro sim card step three put sim card into the phone. Step four dial *228 and activate or go online or pay extra 15 bucks at a metro store but considering you may have just dropped 600+ on a z2 you won't mind making them do it.

Wait for it to be available in T-Mobile. Most T-Mobile GSM phone are available to use with Metro PCS without the need to unlock them. All you would need is a Metro PCS SIM card. That is what i did with my LG G2. At first the Metro rep told Mr the phone had to be unlocked but another user here on the forum told me it was not true. He was right, all i had to do is give them the number of the phone and get the Metro SIM. You can activate it over the phone for free. If you do it at a local store they will charge $15 which is a complete rip off.

T-Mobile version is boot loader locked though so buying the international version which is identical would be better and it'll have all LTE and hspa bands as well...

So would the Canadian one be the international one? Where to purchase international phones?

And I was thinking about waiting until it gets released for T mobile but Sony already announced that theyre making flagship phones every 6 months and that the z2 is their flagship phone for the first half of the year. If I was to wait until it comes out for T mobile i might as well wait for the next phone to come out in september.

Also every Sony product I worked with was hard to brick. Bootloaders can be unlocked on most devices of Sony but the Sony apps on the computer such as the PC companion they make it hard to brick and easy to unbrick

I wish T-Mobile would not care to the point of not locking them. att lol says no never lock it in like bro Verizon make them pay for developer privileged. Maybe T-Mobile will draw in more of the dev and flashing crowd if it didn't touch the phones so hard. When my xperia to comes in after I unlock it flashing central Europe skyfall edition so I can at least be 4.3 with minimum bloat. sorry about my boot loader status would love some KitKat 😖 I will buy a moto x unlocked in like August. I needed an lte phone asap which why I picked up the tl oh well bravia a gogo

You can get the international version from Sony's site when it becomes available...

Will the s4 active SGH-I537 fully work on metropcs including lte? if so what steps would i have to go through if i bought an unlocked one.
Yes you'll get LTE and HSPA on PCS. Then since its unlocked get a BYOD SIM then put it in and activate it then if the APN doesn't auto load into it just put the metro APN in the APN menu.

I put a byod sim in my note 2 (at&t) i317 and unlocked aws bands but still only get h+. Have yet to see lte. ..

Signal bounces between H, E, 3g, & even G
