Root [Sprint] An actual REAL brick

We're talking the real deal here, not bootlooping, not stuck in recovery or bootloader and not simply a wiped system partition. My wife's One is a genuine brick. A few nights ago she rolled over in the middle of the night, picked it up off the nightstand to check the time and the screen just went black. The power button is totally non-responsive. I've had it on the charger for the last 36 hours, but still nothing. The phone is S-OFF and was running a stock rooted ROM. I'm fairly certain there's nothing anyone can do, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips, I'd love to hear them.

I assume you've tried holding power for 20+ seconds to initiate a hard reset?

Is the charge light on?

Just to make sure were on the same page,do you have a black screen... Or no screen?

If you're running windows,how does the phone appear in device manager?

All good questions and I should have thought to mention that information to start with. I have held the power button down for over 24 hours various times thinking that doing so will somehow pull the battery down low enough so that the phone truly registers a battery pull. The charge light does not come on; it is as if I have plugged the charger into lump of wood and not a wall socket. I have confirmed that the charger and socket are good by using them on other phones. The screen is not on at any stage. No components are getting any power whatsoever. Finally, nothing happens in device manager. I have opened device manager, let everything load and then plugged in the phone. There is no response from the computer at all. ADB devices yields nothing listed. I might as well have connected a potato to the computer.

thanks for the additional info,and sorry for the late response. sounds like you have some type of hardware failure. usually the phone will show up as something in device manager(my HTC or qhsusb_dload or possibly something else)

if you cant make any sort of warranty claim,id contact josh at MobileTechVideos.COM

describe your situation to him and see if he thinks jtag would be a viable recovery option.

I probably won't even bother with warranty. I'll contact Josh and see the what he thinks. Thanks for the guidance.

I bricked mine by editing hboot.
Exact same details.
Sent it off to be jtaged.
Yours could be actual dead hardware like mainboard or something like that.
Did it overheat at all?

I don't think it overheated, but was not there when it happened, so I can't be sure. Did you send to Josh, as Scott suggested or to someone else?

If I can remember, I will contact him today.

sorry to hear your still without a device. i dont want to badmouth zarboz,nor make any excuses for him,if he is unable to fix your device as promised,he should promptly return it so you can make other arrangements.

i have sent an old htc flyer tablet to this guy for a jtag s off service:

his comunications are good,he seems eager to do a good job. ill let you know how the service goes. he might be another option to mobile tech videos for jtag repair.

i have used mobile tech video for s off service,and will vouge for them,they do good work. my devices came back unharmed from the disassembly,in a very timely manner. his work was done the same day or next day after recieving.

for some reason,josh was unable to s off the flyer,wich i do not understand,as we WAS able to change cid to supercid :thinking:

he did give me a refund,despite putting a bunch of work into trying to accomplish the feat.

definately no reason to not use them if you get your device back.
