The Tablet Tavern

I think everyone is taken by surprise by physics the first time. I couldn't figure out why my lab partners did so well until I found out they had taken an algebra based physics from the same professor.

Ha that'll always help. Physics is just math really.

Second episode of bates motel I'm on. Such a good show.

My sister is drunk.

I always thought that computers and electronics in general were made with such tight tolerances that a repair is almost impossible.

Depends on the repair. I've unsoldered and resoldered many a component on a board, even have some surface mount tips for my iron.

Engineering is generally the design/creation/building of things, the tech level degrees are generally repair oriented.

Not necessarily almost impossible, often uneconomic though. Think many modern electronic items are actually repairable, given enough time and the correct equipment. Usually much cheaper just to replace the whole board or module, especially in cellphones, PCs, TVs and other consumer grade electronics. Although here in China they'll sometimes repair consumer products to the component level, because the hourly rates for a tech are much lower, and don't necessarily need expensive specialised equipment either, a toaster oven can make a very effective solder re-flow station for SMT.

What do you know? It's not like China is this huge manufacturing country.

I did fine in electronic engineering without chemistry, I even know that semiconductor is one (compound) word :p

Still, I am interested in Nuclear Chemistry. If I could build a Nuclear powered Power Generator for my house that ran on smashing hydrogen atoms together I would.

But, isn't that illegal? I remember watching something about it from iCarly... Yes... I watched that show.

Want your own portable fusion reactor?

You know, you can get your guy card revoked for admitting to watching that show LOL....

Haha, it was a really, really, stupidly funny show, I loved it.

Spenser plays the drums, and they randomly catch on fire.. "How does that even happen?" It's just the stupid things that happen that make me laugh. Haha

Not a portable reactor. I want to build up my very own nuclear power plant and power the whole planet!!!!
We're not there yet, but we do need to get more power out there. The sun only provides a very VERY slim amount of energy and we just don't have that kind of time or money.

I like to think of the big picture.

We will run out of oil one day.

But not matter.

Matter is here to stay.

Because matter cannot be created nor destroyed.

So sets smash our hydrogen atoms together and power the world tomorrow

That's probably not a good motto.

If I create my own nuclear power company that's going to be my motto

"Smashing our hydrogen atoms together since 2014."

I'll be king of power.

Hehe, I have to study chemistry... Chapter 10
Studying how elements combine. Chemical bonding.

We all have to start somewhere.

Right now its this.

2 days later its the test

The day after I'm going to build my own Fusion battery

Look at me...

I'm starting to write post like Stinky stinky

:)

I think its only illegal if you make "weapons" grade nuclear, unless your home reactor has that shoulder thing that goes up.

Weapons? You talking plutonium and uranium? Nah... Not there yet. I'm only a Chem 101 student.

Not even if I was a genius would I mess around with unstable nuclei like that. You blink wrong and you set off a nuclear chain reaction for nucleus' splitting and oh we don't want that to happen do we?

This stuff takes skill and knowledge and safety. Remember what happened to that Russian nuclear power plant long time ago?

They decided to save money.

In doing so they cut safety cost.

Well. That was not a bright idea because the whole plant blew up.

So duck and cover and remember to wear your safety goggles. You have to protect your eyes.

Solar is plenty, you are just not thinking big enough. Only a very small percentage of sunlight actually hits the earth at any one moment. You need to think big space based solar to get more power. Cost?! Have you priced a reactor lately, even a fission one? Those things are rather expensive.

As for starting to post like Stinky Stinky, now that IS scary....

Yeah. Let's build a solar panel ON the sun

I think one in a polar orbit around the earth will do.

Yeah, that'll be cool.

Okay... So... Chemistry and computer engineering is not all I want to know... If I wanted to start developing apps for android.. Should I learn Java first then start, or should I just jump into android development tutorials.

(I'm not a developer by any means... I'm a complete newb :p)
