Help .: HTC Incredible :. Known Issues / Bug Reports / Hardware Issues

Ignore the bars - they are mostly meaningless. Focus on actual reception versus another phone. At minimum, ancedotal reports on performance in known difficult areas in comparison with other "known" phones will be helpful to those who are specifically interested in radio performance.

I can go into a "field test" mode on my Motorola phones, and pull up a debug screen on my WM phones. Both let me see the actual received signal strength (RSSI) along with the SID, radio band, and channel among other things. I Googled and found system calls for seeing the RSSI, but I didn't see any apps. Is there a built-in function to see this information on Android or the stock phone app?

Simple test is the Youtube test. Go to a fringe area that one device shows on or two bars of 3G and the other 1X or lower. How well the video plays will tell you all you need. Or, download a big fat app off the market.

I will test the Droid and Inc in a high signal area and a fringe area. Performance results will end the debate about bars :)

So far, it seems the main issue to correct on Inc is the mapping of the 6.6gb of flash rom. Apps need to see it. Verizon will be smacked down with CS calls about this, since common sense would be that it should work.

You have to keep in mind that the phone hasn't even been officially released yet, so there is a fairly small group of people who have the phone with limited ability to test and confirm/debunk reported issues.

I don't see the harm in having a place for people who got the phone early to have a central place to look for reported issues/bugs/etc and possibly find fixes for them. I find it especially useful as someone considering picking up an Incredible on the 29th. Some of the information here has prompted me to consider waiting another week or two after release to see exactly what issues turn out to be real and which ones are just flukes.

But I do see the possible concern with syntax, so I requested the thread title be changed to "[...] Reported Issues [...]"

I couldn't agree more that a place to report bugs is important. I just meant that I think calling some of things "bugs" isn't really fair. The vibrate isn't strong enough?? That's not a bug really, that's a preference. The vibrate on my Eris is fine, but for someone else it might not be--that doesn't make it flawed.

I think it's a issue. How are you suppose to know when you get a message if the LED turns off after 5 minutes and the screen is off? I don't believe any other phone including the desire does this.

My BB Curve does this. I'm not sure what the exact time limit is but the red LED will only blink for new messages for so long before stopping. Its actually a battery conservation thing.

I hope anybody with a signal issue with the Incredible calls it in to Verizon. I did. they said that it is more than likely a software problem, that the signal bar is not actually giving an accurate reading on the signal strength. My girlfriend also got the phone and is experiencing the same problem. We live in a great area, 4 verizon towers around us, and the phone usually shows that we have 1-2 bars. We get 3-4 sometimes. But we have not experienced a drop call or bad call quality so that's why Verizon techs say it is a software problem. Other than that it's awesome!!!!!

have a problem where the clock widget won't display weather on my location. just displays "my location" also the weather app doesn't seem to have many options for cities. they don't have one city in NJ.

also not sure if this was just a one time occurrence but my phone stopped reading from the sd card and couldn't recognize it. had to pull it and put it back in and all is well...

That happened to me , make sure you take GPS off of 911, there are 2 other options in that section, after that it showed my location

I love everything about my Incredible... except that the camera doesn't work at all :( When I open the camera most of the time it is just black. Sometimes it will appear to be functioning normally but when I take a photo it doesn't pop up the options after the picture is taken and freezes there. If I press home I can get out of it but it didn't save the image. I hope this has an easy fix :(

i got the incredible a few days ago and i love it. i am just now noticing a few bugs though i have not been paying 100% attention to what is causing the issue as of yet.
- yes, it does show i have very low reception though calls come through just fine.
- the notification does not always sound though it is supposed to like when i receive mail (i'll have to triple check my setting)
- the screen randomly goes blank - have yet to pinpoint a cause.
- this morning it rebooted on its own. i never turn my phone off, so its possible it was remotely updating (?) just a theory.
- force quit an app when i went to upgrade it, might have lead to the phone reboot.
like i said, i wasnt paying 100% attention.

anyone else have these issues?

Hardware has been very solid for me. Only issue is subpar battery. Will fix that with extended battery.

Main problem for me is email. I use Gmail and want to be able to send email from separate accounts, like you can online. This is a MAJOR failure, and pretty sad when you consider this is a Google centric phone aimed at communication.
