Afternoon all,

I'm after some advice concerning my samsung gs3 which has just stopped working.....??????

I was having a few problems with the device and a very helpful phone shop tried to fix the problems by flashing android 4.0.4 to my device.....

This worked fine for a few weeks but the phone is not useable now, I'm getting no signal, the phone claims to have no imei and unable to connect to a network when trying to check for updates

I have gone into About my device and note the following infor

Model number
GT-I9300

Android version
4.0.4

Baseband version
Unknown

Kernel version
3.0.15-554505-userdpi@DELL126#1SMP PREEMPT Sun May 13. 11:40:17 KST 2012

Build number
IMM76D.I9300BUALE6

Current carrier is Vodafone

I would appreciate any help getting this phone up and running again.

I am fairly confident with using Odin etc as I rooted my previous phone with help from this forum......

Thanks in advance guys

I thought the same thing, maybe the wrong version was flashed??????

I was looking for the latest version of jellybean and found one using Sammobile, but for some reason it downloaded as a internet explorer file and not a tar file??????

Can anyone highlight/post a link to the latest jellybean for SGS3 and I will flash the phone with this to see if it works....

Cheers all in advance

Thank you all for your responses,

Ironass

1. Unfortunately I don't know the exact details of the firmware is was previous, I used to update my phone via keis air when an update was available. I then experienced a problem (the phone would not boot up and was continuously in a loop) and the shop did what I explained above......

2. Exact firmware details are

Ap - I9300BUALE6

CP - Unknown (displayed on phone)

CSC - I93000VFGALE6

Thanks again

If you are familiar with Odin, I would recommend reading up on this...

S3 Recovery

I've personally used it, and can verify it works perfectly.

You may need to reflash the rom. Otherwise locate the gapps.apk for your rom im on my phone at the moment so not much help. But reinstalling the google apps may help.

CSC - I93000VFGALE6 (I think that that should read... i9300VFGALE6)

That's the stock Samsung firmware for Vodafone, VFG, on Android 4.0.4. I would suggest downloading and installing, via Odin, the latest firmware for your phone's CSC code, VFG, Android 4.3...

Model: GT-I9300
Model name: GALAXY S III
Country: United Kingdom (Vodafone)
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2191747
Build date: Tue, 26 Nov 2013 08:03:22 +0000
Product Code: VOD
PDA: I9300XXUGMK6
CSC: I9300VFGGMK4
MODEM: I9300BUUGMK1

I have even got the lovely Erica, in her jimjams, to show you how to flash the above firmware using Odin...

*Galaxy S3* How to Flash Official Jelly Bean (with ODIN)

(Ignore the firmware that Erica is using and use the one I have linked you to)

thanks for the swift reply, i have downloaded the above firmware and followed the lovely Erica on how to flash Jellybean using Odin.

Everything went smoothly and Odin displayed a PASS and SUCCESSFUL download. The phone rebooted and i hear the start up tone and the phone displays SAMSUNG which is pulsing blue, however the phone will not pass this display...... I have tried Wiping the Cache partition and Wipe data/factory reset but no joy..... When the device is plugged into my laptop it displays a message stating the MTP usb driver failed to install.....?????

Any ideas.........

Cheers as always

That's very strange Northern2010.

Are you able to go back to a previous nandroid backup?

If you did not make a nandroid backup, try flashing your previous firmware...

What also worries me is that you say that you have no IMEI number. This could indicate a missing or corrupt /efs file.

In Dummies Guides for rooting I always make a point of insisting that a copy of the /efs file is made straight after root and kept somewhere safe, like your computer as its loss will render a phone unusable.

If you have used a PhilZ custom recovery on your phone, this usually backs up your /efs file to external memory.

IMEI / EFS - Know this stuff (i9300) - including "no network"
