My wife and I just swapped from Verizon iPhones to C Spire Galaxy S4's yesterday. My daughter stayed with an iPhone but is on our C Spire plan as well.

We are having issues with text messages. My wife and I can send from our S4 a msg or group msg to our daughter and she receives it fine, but we aren't getting her replies. Her phone is still trying to send us an iMessage and I assume it's because her phone "thinks" we have iPhones still.

Not sure if that's the reason or not. We are using the stock messaging app on our S4's. I just need to make sure that all texts get sent and received properly.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

I just looked at her phone again and she's getting our texts but we're not receiving any from her. I see on her phone that she sent them, but we just never get them.

Also, we have a group text going with several friends right now who mostly have androids. Some texts come through some don't. I got one in the group text that my wife never got, and we're both in the same group text.

Frustrating!!

Hey guy. I've had the same problem in the past. What's going on here is that when you changed phones, your number wasn't removed from apples servers as iPhone users. If you still have the old iPhones and haven't wiped them, connect them to a wifi network, and go through the settings and log out of your Apple account anywhere that it may be. Usually you'd just have to turn off imessage but in the past I've had to actually sign out of everything so this is more of a guarantee that it's gone.

Post how it goes. Like or thumbs up or whatever this site uses if all went well.

Unfortunately I don't have the phones anymore. When I swapped cell providers and they bought out my old contract, part of the deal was they took the old phones, so I can't go back and turn off iMessage. I talked with a friend who made the swap too and they said over time the Apple server realizes the iMessages aren't going through and will start sending them as just texts.

Who knows..... we'll see if it corrects itself over time.

Had the same issue when i got rid of my iphone.. Just call apple customer support and ask them to release your number. Explane that txt msg are not coming through. They are pretty good to work with. the customer service agent i got even sent through a test txt before they hung up. Also make sure that anyone that sent you a txt does not have your # saved as iphone not sure if that will correct itself after apple release's your number.
