Help Can't stop screen from dimming

When I'm listening to Google Play music, I have the phone plugged in to the charger and the screen stays on, but after a minute or two it dims down. At night this isn't a problem, during the day it is. I don't have power saver on nor any other setting that would cause it to dim that I know of. I cannot get this thing to stop dimming and it's driving me nuts! Ideas?

Settings/Screen timeout. About the longest you can set it for is 10 minutes. (The screen is about the most power-hungry part of the phone - the longer you leave it on, the less the time between recharges.)

You can use an app like Stay Alive to keep the screen on all the time, but it'll eat battery like crazy.
Even with the phone on the charger?

For those that want to be able to set the toggle for the phone to stay awake, when plugged in:
First, unlock developer options (this was already available in the settings, in earlier versions of Android, but not anymore):
Unlock Developer Options Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - YouTube

After unlocking developer options, go into that settings area and there's a toggle for keeping the phone awake, while the phone is plugged in. Unfortunately, for some of you that might use your phone for work (like myself), that option might be greyed out from being selected.

As for the dimming on Google Play Music, I think that's a built in feature, to prevent overheating, but I'm not positive.

Maybe you could try Stay Alive! Keep screen awake app found in Play Store or on XDA Developers site. It seems to be doing the trick so far for me. But I only found it today so I haven't really tested it much yet. Just a suggestion as this screen dimming has been driving me crazy too and I have wasted way too much time trying to find a solution.

Yes,

Stay Alive! has been developped especially to keep the screen alive and can be configured to do it for specific apps. You can keep screen alive only when you have power or all the time it you want to close your device screen manually.

Try it and contact me if you need help setting it up.

Let me know if you were successful testing Stay Alive! I'm there to help and always open to suggestions.

It's not turning off but dimming. Already have developer options set. And yes it's on the charger doing this.

Try Stay Alive! from the play store. You can prevent your screen to dim and set it to only do it for specific apps. Once configured, no need to constantly toggling it on/off like you would need with the debugger option.

Let me know if you need help!

I thought I had mentioned this, but...On Widgetsoid, I created a quick toggle for the notification bar that is a "Keep On" toggle. It's supposed to link directly to the phone systems, but I haven't used it in such a long time because the only time I wanted it was when driving. Once I started using Car Home Ultra, I never needed the Keep On function anymore...but it's there, if you want to give a shot at using it. I remember it working just fine for me as well, but I'm not sure if it stopped the "dimming" function.

Am using the 'screen timeout toggle' now and it works. If I forget to toggle it on the widget, it'll dim after a few secs regardless. Too many nanny deals on this phone! Had to figure out something to stop the audio nanny from lowering the volume and telling me 'max volume is dangerous to your hearing, turning it down' whatever nonsense. This phone's got issues and I'm getting more and more tempted to sell it, trade it whatever. Volume goes up and down randomly using Google Play music, these issues, camera with its stupid 'processing' nonsense and yea I know turn off stability but you shouldn't HAVE to! And now I'm finding the Mute function likes to turn itself off at inopportune times like in church and also worse yet is the thing has three times now not kept time properly! Going to work with it up on the windshield listening to music and notice the time....hmm, is that moving? Can't be! Look down at the cars time readout and it's nearly 20 mins faster! If I knew of a better phone right now, I'd get rid of this POS!

Any update on this?

First

Screen timeout is when it turns "off"

Dimming us not when it turbs off but simply when it dims regardless of any other settings when you have not touched it.

I have my screen off set to 15 second and my stay awake on developer checked.

The idea is when the tablet I mounted in my dash is powered ie car is on it turns on. When I turn off the car 15 seconds later screen turns off

Problem is after a few seconds the god damned screen is unreadable and no I do not want to just touch it. I am driving.

I want auto brightness to keep working! So it adjuated based on ambient light.

I want tk auto dim to STOP

suggestions?

Yea, you'll have to use what I'm using or the other guy 'Stay alive' or 'screen timeout toggle'. I've got dev options set as well and the fricking thing dims unless I use STT. I've had to DL too much crap to stop this phone from being stupid. Had to freeze a couple things with Titanium Backup, use apps to stop it from nannying me to death. It's a pain....
