In case you all missed it, I posted a stock rooted version of the Sense 5, Android 4.3 update over on XDA. Thread link below:

[ROM][FIRMWARE][RECOVERY][STOCK] Sense 5, Android 4.3 update - 4.13.651.1 - xda-developers

There are quite a few disclaimers there, so make sure you read them if you decide you want to take the plunge. Because it you do, there's no turning back. But I've been using it for a day or so now, and it's quite impressive.
Can I flash this Rom s-on?

(Fastboot flash boot boot.img)

I've successfully flashed ROMs that states s-off only --- I guess this ROM is completely different.

Thanks for your response. :)
Well in order to flash this ROM, you have to update your firmware first, which you can't do unless you're S-OFF. That's the difference.

What those other ROM threads were referring to is that they didn't include the S-ON kernel installer, which will automatically flash the kernel after the ROM. Otherwise you have to manually flash the boot.img. So they weren't S-ON "friendly" would be a more accurate term.

[root noob]
The kinks all worked out of this update yet? I know this pre-dated the non-OTA update by a little bit and I wondered if the official file has been integrated at all? I wanted to wait until the real thing had been release a little bit.
I went S-OFF and installed a stock de-odexed ROM/update over a year ago (without using HTC unlock - Dec. '12). Haven't touched a thing since then - if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality. Not even sure I remember what to do. Might need the noob instructional you don't want to provide. :D Feel free to move to the "dummies guide".

Looking to take on the stock de-odexed version of the new update.
Is there a way back out of the new partition structure yet? Or is it is it still a fairly permanent move?
I generally only like to make moves when I know there is a clear path behind me

Hey, pyro long time no see buddy. :)

This update is the latest from HTC. It's the same as issued from HTC except it has the bits needed for root added.

I loaded everything up last night and it's running awesome! Seriously it's a good update.

Yes you can go back to the old partition layout and last update if you are S-off. No problems there.

It's really not that bad, just give us the word if you want to go through with it, and we'll move the discussion over to the Root guide thread. :)

Hey Cap'n, I downloaded the latest TWRP, flashed through bootloader. Went fine.

Tried to perform a nandroid, failed. No big deal, redownloaded the .img file, fastboot flashed, flashed fine. Tried to nandroid both to the internal memory, and the SD card. Both failed. I have plenty of space available, no question there. Kinda stumped on this one. Never had backup failures like this before.

I updated to 4.3 using your PJ75IMG.zip, everything has been fine so far.

I'm downloading the latest RUU now, going to see if running the RUU, then unlocking the bootloader again will fix it.

Is there anything else you can think of that might be an issue?

EDIT:

Successful RUU, used the .3 RUU version, couldn't locate the .4 version. Obviously looking in the wrong place.

anyway, fastboot flashed recovery again, boom! Successful NANDroid backup. :)

Really weird why it wouldn't work before? I literally had 0 problems flashing anything and your rom worked great. Strange.

PS: I unlocked my bootloader after I updated using the bootloader version the first time. After I just ran the .3 RUU, it stayed unlocked! I didn't have to go to HTCdev and unlock it again.

Now I need to flash the update Hboot without the red txt....

UPDATE:

Recovery stopped working again. Won't perform a backup. Fails when backing up the system partition.

It worked once I did the RUU, no problem. I just tried to backup the Sense 5.5 ROM, and it's failing again like prior to the RUU.

I'm going to check and see if I have a copy of the 2.6.3.0b recovery and flash it. We'll see if it works.
