Help Android Os suddenly keeping phone awake 6+ hours

I don't know what happened. I've had my phone since December, battery has been great.

Noticed lately it's been draining fast. I used to be able to charge fully, leave it off the charger over night and only lose 2-3%. Last night I went from 99% to 63% over 6 hours.

Checked my battery info and it says the Android Os kept the phone awake the ENTIRE time. How do I fix this?

I can upload pics if necessary but nothing else had the phone awake for more than a minute.

Thanks in advance

By any chance did you update to Kitkat?

I was having massive battery drain after the update. I uninstalled apps I wasn't using.
That seemed to take care of the problem but I don't know if the app drain many are experiencing is directly related to apps after the update.

I also turned on power saving mode- something I never needed before the update.

Would that for sure work? I really don't want to go thru that if I don't have to lol

It can help with a lot of issues after an OTA update.

The cache and dalvik cache don't get cleared out during the update, and for a non rooted user a factory reset is the only way to clear it out.

I know its a hassle, but seeing how its the OS keeping it awake id wager you've got something deeper than just an app going on.

I updated to Kit Kat as soon as it was available to download and the battery life actually improved for me though. Last week though, I started experiencing the same problem as you. I'd read of others having battery problems since KitKat but I didn't think it was my issue as it had been fine for the first few weeks.

What I had done was updated an app, the Amazon App Store to be specific, after a couple of days of constant draining I uninstalled Amazon App Store and the problem went away. I've since reinstalled it and the problem hasn't come back.

Was it straight after you upgraded to kit Kat you had this problem, or have you updated any apps recently/around the time this started?

I've had the same problem too after updating to Kit Kat. Battery would drain overnight from 90% to around 65% in the morning.

I've now gone to getting a bigger extended battery. But wanted to before the Kit Kat update anyways.

I'll try erasing the Amazon app store app and see if that helps. I rarely use it anyways.

I didn't realize it happened after the update until it was mentioned here and u thought back.

I have all my regular apps that i use update automatically and i haven't added any new apps since I got the phone and installed them to begin with.

I use to tinker with my phones but haven't had time with the note, so it's not rooted, and it only has the apps I use constantly as I knew wouldn't have time to mess with the phone a lot and I didn't want to clutter it like my old s3.

I uninstalled everything that I could... It's definitely something deeper. I'm waiting till I have time to back things up before I do a reset :(
