Help Battery Drainig on 3G

Hello,

I noticed that my cell phone battery seems to drain when in an area of weak signal. I read around, and is there a way to prevent my phone from "searching" for a signal and to just "accept" the signal it has to save battery?

Is there any other way to save battery while on 3G? I know to try to get a stronger signal and trying apps that automatically disable 3G, but they both did not turn out too good for me.

I have tried firewalls and CleverConnect, which messed up my phone. I also don't want to turn off 3G, and I can't use 2G.

I have a rooted HTC EVO Desgin 4G.

Thanks,

David

The phone adjusts its transmitter power based on receive strength. IF the signal is weak it transmits with more power, so that the tower can hear it. Turn the power down and you're off the network.

If you're looking to use the phone for data, you want 3G, even if the signal is weak (which means the speed is lower). But if you're only going to be using it for voice and text, turn 3G off. It's not used for voice or text.
