Did you root your phone successfully with this method?

1. Use whichever works for you.

2.Have you never transferred any music or any files on your sd card before?
Just copy the zip file on the sd card, use the usb mass storage mode or you can also remove your sd card and use a card reader to transfer it.

upd_1.zip worked fine. Had no problem rooting. Took around 10 mins all told.
Many thanks for your sound advice.

hi ;
i am a noob in the android world and i need a help:rolleyes:
i have a sammsung SGH-I857
with 2.2.2 android version & 2.6.332.9-perf karnel version which is rooted

what I want to do is release the maximum possible space of internal phone memoir because it small (177MO ONLY) 89.30 MB of space it used.
I would move them to the SD card (8GB) or remove them if it's possible ,but I do not know how knowing that my phone has never been changed at the ROM or Kernel or Recovery or anything like that

I also read that before anything i should use a custom recovery and make a backup of my current set up, so in case something gets messed up, i can restore the backup and be as good as new!

so if you could tel me how ,done please & thank you in advance :D
NAPSTER ;-)

To check if your phone is rooted, go to you app drawer and look for an app called superuser with an icon of a pirate android with cross bones. If you see it, your phone is rooted.

i have a complete different icon of Superuser after Rooting my phone useing Acegingerroot.zip!
Is this a mistake?
does this mean my phone is still rooted?
my Superuser icon is the Deathstar for starwars!
is this correct??? plz reply to me

Do you really expect the superuser app developer to keep the same icon forever?
They keep changing icon, its the app that matters, if you have the app and its granting superuser access to root requiring apps then you'r good.

There are also root checking apps on the play store that you can use.

Turn the phone off.. press the POWER button AND Middle button together.....

what am I doing wrong?

I have a GT-5830i Android 2.3.6 Kernel 2.6.35.7 se.infra@SEP-71 #1 Build number gingerbread.zcla4

And i think you didn't notice that this thread is for S5830 and it was started long before S5830i even existed.
The button combo for recovery in S5830i is Power+Volume up+Home button.
Try this thread, it should be more helpful to you.

This website is one of the biggest scams ever. To download anything you have to click on every thing ubder the sun and then get sent around in circles installing dangeroues exe's and the like on your computer. A major security risk!
What website are you talking about?

Our site doesn't offer, provide or sanction exe downloads of any kind.

The first post here is a zip file. There are no special requirements, you just download it as is.

If you're installing dangerous exes you may be clicking on ads.

Moderator Note: There are now two guides for this forum. A specific guide for the Galaxy Ace 2.3.3 and the Universal root guide for many Samsung devices (including the Ace) in the second post. Seeing how both of these are similar, we're going to keep them in the same thread. Thanks for understanding!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Download attached file and copy it to your sdcard
2. Run in maintenance mode (power + middle button)
3. Update from sdcard, select the file upd_1.zip.
4. After the update completed - reboot in normal mode.

Thats all - now you have rooted ace with android 2.3.3, and superuser in your apps.

I tried it but when i got to stage 3 ^^ it says:

E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted.

I have a Galaxy Ace 2 GT-S5830i running 2.3.6 android version.

I managed to get it rooted last year after googling it but forget where from (idiot) but then got the phone replaced with the exact same model just in black and now i cant seem to find any rooting that works -_-

any help to get my phone rooted? :)
