Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

I may have a fix for the bad battery life, but I can't do it myself.

Back on the ZTE Warp, one of our members, Mercury0x000d, made a script called "PowerNap". What it does is that it locks the phone on a low set of frequencies on a certain governor to save power when the screen is off. I took the script and added it to my ROM after modifying it to put the phone to only 122-248 MHz when the screen is off on Conservative. However, the script was for Gingerbread stock ROM, and when I added it to a Jelly Bean ROM it boot looped. I can post my version of the script on here if you like. My Warp went 21 hours on a single charge with light to light-normal use with 30% at the end of the day most of the time, and about 40% after 8 hours of normal use at the end of the day. If someone on here is willing, I'll post the script and we can try making it work on the stock ROMs. Then maybe we could try and get it functioning in the AOSP ROMs too to improve overall battery life.

I looked into that while I was running MOAR to combat the battery drain common to TW roms. The paths are different between GB and JB and KK and different kernels. The kernel apparently didn't support the asynchronous scripting to run it at boot from init.d2 (is my guess LOL) but after moving to AOSP based roms I haven't had a need for it. I'm easily getting 24 hours with normal usage running SlimKat with the included cm kernel. I'm going to play around with Lean kernel when I get time and see how it runs too...

Hey biker i remember reading something that said it doesnt matter if im on mk3 or mk5 with the newer roms. Wicked project x recomends mk3. Should i switch back to mk3? I believe what i read was they were the same, mk3 was sprint and mk5 was virgin and boost or vice versa just wondering.

As Cwhatever mentioned, you should be fine with MK5. Personally, since I've just started using MK5, I always follow the instructions and use MK3 1st, get the phone set up, and then flash MK5.

I'm 99% sure that it will flash with MK5. Just make sure that you do a profile update with either.

It can work in init.d too, with little to no modification. And I'm getting 18 on liquid smooth with the included kernel, and LTE on constantly. But imagine how much greater the battery life could be if the script could work with the AOSP ROMs! :D

I'll have a look at the paths, and see what I can do. I'll see if anyone else on Osiris can help too.

I agree with you but I'm sure you'll get even more battery of you use dkp kernel which I always use I'm getting ready to run liquid smooth now

As far as using that script you mentioned it could work just with the right mods. I personally don't need anything over a day because I'll forget to charge the phone and it'll die at some point lol

Asop roms I've never had a battery problem it's just with tw roms in general they're just bad on battery life unless you use the tw version of dkps kernel and even then it's nothing to brag about you'll have to freeze apps and greenify things to get normal battery life or at least not a constant drain

im restoring moar as i type didnt like wicked project x its just an ugly rom all around no offense to the devs who worked so hard on it but theres no themeability if thats a word lol. and also it may be lag free but its so slow between transitions opening apps maybe my phone just doesnt like the rom. the extreme sound boost is to extreme. sounds like my speaker is gonna blow when a notification goes off just really distorted sound in general sorry for the negative feedback but i just keep it real. i liked the transitions. i like the system menu theme like in the settings and in the recent apps list but other than that i really couldnt even force my self to let it grow on me. everything worked so in that sense its a good rom.

oh on the plus side i absolutely love the camera theme. alot of xposed mods for sure wish i knew how to use half of them.

Hello, I am currently on the WS rom, latest update. This is a awsome rom and I have been on it for awhile but I'm looking to try another rom. I was thinking about the nightlies rom. Does anyone know if there are any issues with this rom (example: data issues going from wifi to 3, 4 G) or if it runs good? Also, this is a 4.4 rom, right? If I do decide to flash this rom, is there anything different that I do to flash this rom or do I flash it the same way as WS. I believe I will need a gapps package, right? Thanks for all the feedback, it has been a long time since I flashed a rom and I just want to make sure I do all the steps required.

There are several ROMs building nightlies.

As for 4g, it depends on what ROM you go with. Some work better with 4g than others.

And yes, you will need GAPPS with any of the Kit Kat 4.4.2 ROMs.

Read the ROM thread you are considering. Make sure you read the flashing instructions completely. Then you will need the APN fix for Boost.

After you have read thoroughly, ask any questions you may still have.

is this a tw kernel or aosp?

AOSP. It's gonna be the new kernel in LS. I went ahead and flashed dkp right after flashing the newest (2) version. After reading all the people reporting how well it's running, I've just downloaded Deathly1.3-d2lte-kernel-signed 4/8/14 build. Gonna flash it in about 5 minutes and see what's up. :D

EDIT....... RoWilJr beat me to the punch! lmao!!!

Pair it with the latest LS and you won't be disappointed!

:D I'm happy to see some action in here.:D

A new kernel? Oh yeah.... I'm stoked! (2) version of LS is running great too. Looking forward to seeing what a lil Deathly will do. Backing up and getting ready to flash. :vroam:

EDIT.... Oh yeah!! I see all kinds of extra options in Trickster now. Time to start tweaking some settings!

Hello everyone. I am on a boost mobile S3. I was running wicked sensations touchwhiz rom previously. I have just flashed this (Liquid Smooth) rom, liquidsmooth nightlies, with gapps. I am having a issue when it first booted it tried to activate data by calling some number, then it said unsuccessful. I have no data with the network, I have data with my wifi network. Everthing else seems to be working perfectly. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the data working? Thanks

My God, ditto on the clowns. Supposedly 5.0.1 is "clown free," so we will see.

 I just imagined the changelog
Code:
V.5.0.1 - Now "Clown Free"!!

The quotations make you wonder if theres hidden clowns :p

Sounds like there may be an APN issue. I'm not with Boost, so I'm sure someone else will chime in with a solution soon :)
